Shockingly, I've seen proposals that would classify even the venerable Garand as an "assault weapon" so if you've got a hankering for that model, now might not be a bad time to snatch one up. If you're more interested in an investment than something to keep for yourself, I'd suggest anything that looks scary. Depending on your return, maybe a Barret or Armalite .50BMG.
