    Default Other redneck stuff...

Yard tools. Redneck? Or just a necessary evil for the Everyman?

Seriously, though, what does everyone own? At least those of you who actually have a need for them.
I am still in need of a lawnmower. Have a Craftsman push mower back in VA but I have noticed my grass does not really grow. I'm hoping it is one of those types that rarely needs cutting. The weeds around the house are another matter. Over the course of three weeks they went from non-existent to hip-high. Time for a trimmer. So, I went to Sears and then Wal-Mart where I bought a Poulan Pro trimmer similar to this one. I'll try it out tomorrow.

I'm still in the market for a chainsaw. Any recommendations? I've already gotten pruners, axes, a maul, a sledgehammer, rakes, shovels, and other non-powered hand tools. Also have a backpack blower in need of a coil (hey, it was free). I was looking at Sears earlier and may just invest in a zero-turn radius mower next year if the grass does start growing and may also invest in useful attachments for the trimmer.

I've got kids, a wife I keep pregnant, guns, trucks, a muscle car, yard cars, tools, a dog, and copious amounts of beer and liquor. I just don't own a boat, ATV or a live-in trailer. Time to invest more money in items to give me an excuse to stay outside in the sun...

I've been looking at generators as well. Need one for hurricane season as I plan on sticking around here if the Army will let me. No big trees in the yard, and uprooting six people is too much like work. I figure to run the generator during the day and keep at least twenty gallons of fuel handy. The neighbor says the power rarely stays out for more than a few days. An air compressor is also on the short-list, as is a pressure washer.

Oh, and to boot I am considering walling off the two-car garage and turning the one-car into a shop. The two-car garage will be turned into a bar of sorts for my family's amusement. Nothing fancy, but Sears has some air hockey and pool tables on sale. Window a/c unit, build a bar, add a table and stools, a neon sign or two and some music, though a jukebox may go over the budget. I may just replace the door on the two-car to enable it to be used as a garage if I sell or rent out. Having a place for the wife and I to get away without having to drive or find a babysitter has been a dream for awhile. Heck, I may even finally look more seriously into a Pac-Man machine for the wife. I'd charge her a quarter a play but it would come from my pockets regardless.

I'll continue to scour the classifieds. I love this recession, everyone is selling good stuff and I have both job security and pretty good pay.

    Edit: silly little code
