Hahahah FutureWeapons.... "This is the .308, it is the standard round for the AK-47!" And he talks about how "the old-style" sniper rifles were single-shot bolt actions but the Barrett is different! And makes a big deal out of it's muzzle velocity.
Bowzer, do you mean they're more practical in terms of rifle weight, or more ballistically efficient, or what?
EDIT: Also, .338 RUM seems like a kind of random choice... it's a bear/moose/elk cartridge and it's mainly available in hunting rifles. I guess you can shoot your boss with a .338 RUM hunting rifle just as easily as with some other rifle, but any reason you chose it as an example of a good anti-personnel sniping round, instead of .338 Lapua or something like that?

If I was going for power I would just straight up use a 14.5mm rifle. Twice as powerful as a .50 BMG.
The .338 RUM and .338 Lapua are pretty close in terms of almost everything. I just said the RUM because I wouldn't mind having one in a model 700... actually was looking to buy one a bit ago. Well actually, the M24A3 chambers the Lapua... whatever. Basically the same difference.
And who said I wanted to shoot my boss?
Hah yeah, it'd probably get the job done
EDIT: And fm, I'm around. I liked your thread about 20th century American military rifles, I just haven't gotten around to posting in here much recently. I think I might put up a corresponding thread about 19th-century American military rifles to go with yours.

And a near-miss will still kill you!
