    Default Auto knives

Recommend me a good (and reasonably priced) automatic knife, please. I'd like to stay under $150, but would go as high as $200 for a good'n.

Its primary purpose would be to cut open taped up boxes, but needs to be suitable for stabbery in a pinch.

If you like tacticool then a Benchmade is what you want

If you are more traditional then a Hubertus is a great choice.

If you are a 50's greaser the an AKC Leverletto would be a great knife.

If you plan on carrying an auto be sure to check legalities, many places they are legal to own but not legal to carry. Here in Ohio I can buy them and collect them but can not carry them unless I was a one armed man.

I'm federal law enforcement, so that gives me a pass on federal law, but I do need to check state and make sure they have an exception, since I know they're illegal for John Q. Sixpack.

I have a Benchmade 9050 that is a great workhorse but nothing fancy. The Army issues a mil version of the same knife to its aircrews.

There's probably a state or local exception for federal LEOs to carry auto knives, while on duty. Off duty, I'm not sure you get extra rights.

The silly part of that is that I'm authorized to carry my service weapon off duty, pretty much anywhere I go. I think making an automatic knife prohibition, considering that, is somewhat laughable.
