I went to the OGCA show over the weekend and while not really looking for anything in particular I came across a nice old post 64 Winchester M-70 with a Redfield 4x scope (1977 to be exact). The market has long been soft on bolt action hunting rifles and this was a slow show. Not only was the asking price low the seller was motivated to sell, so I threw out a stupid low-ball offer and was surprised when it was accepted. So for a mere 300 bones I have another .30-06.

I whipped up a standard starting load of a 168 grain Hornady A-Max over 47.9 grains of IMR 4895 and took it to the range last night. The rifle shot a nice group at 100 yards with just a 4x scope.
