EDIT: Also, according to SHOT show gossip, theres an OBR Lite coming out in 5.56. The initial run are going to be SBR's though. Probably closer to $2000.

Im thinking about a Garand from the CMP and the Glock 27.
The CMP Garand is a fantastic choice, if your actually going to one of the CMP stores you might want to check to see if they have any 40Xs in the rack, they are listed as out of stock online but occasionally one pops up at the store, and a finer bolt action rifle is hard to come by.

And for now Im looking for something semi auto. And Ive been telling myself I was going to get a Garand for a while now. I just forgot about it. But that IS what Im getting it. The Garand and the Glock. I just started actually using my CCW last week, and Ive been carrying my XD45 Tactical with the 5 inch bbl. HUGE gun. I can conceal it in my OWB Galco, but I have to wear a slightly larger shirt.

in muchbetter shape than that one too. I also have a pre-WWII 1911. So once I get my Garand, all I need is a Thompson. Maybe a greasegun too.
I like my G27, but for quite a bit less bling you can get a Ruger LCP. It's a .380 and is a LOT smaller than the G27. If (when) I ever get around to taking the course so I can carry on a plane, that's the weapon I'll carry. I used to think my 27 was small, but the LCP is a real pocket rocket. So if you're looking for concealability in a CCW weapon, I'd go that route.
I'll never own a .380.
LCP in a Holdster or wallet holster in the back righthand pocket is pretty much the perfect way to carry, IMO. I used to do the same thing with a P3AT but replaced it with an LCP recently, much nicer pistol.
Ive actually decided in a Glock 19 btw. Going get it Friday.
I just can't make myself carry anything less than a 9mm. I might get a .380 one day, but I doubt I'll carry it. Plus .380 is so hard to find right now, and when you can find it, it's expensive. I got 200 rou ds of fmj 9mm for like$40. And I got a box of 50 of some 147gr Winchester Ranger bonded bullets for social work. Lol.
I guess it varies from area to area, both my preferred local stores usually have it in stock at prices that are fairly reasonable, comparatively speaking.
EDIT: Good choice on the Glock though.
Last time I saw .380 available locally was before Obama got elected. And when I see it online, it's jacked up.
Why did everyone decide to buy .380s after he got elected, or what made it so scarce? Cause pretty much every other caliber is widely available now. They always have 9mm, .40, .45, .223, .22lr, and 7.62x39 at my walmart.
I like the AR-10, IMHO it should be the replacement for the AR-15
Seeing that .223 Galil makes me wanna kick my self in the ass for not buying the .308 version I seen for 599 before obama.

I don't know if you are talking about US service rifles, but if so, the US military will never go back to a 7.62x51mm service rifle for as long as a soldier with a 5.56mm rifle can carry nearly three times as much ammo for the same weight, i.e. forever. And rightly so.
Went get my gun today. I left with a Glock 19 with the OD frame. Shot 200 rounds through it without a hiccup today. Pretty accurate gun too.
I picked up one of those Korean made 33 round mags. Only cost $20 and it runs perfectly. It makes my gun look like the G18 on MW2. lol

I said that in the past.
Today, however, I was at the range with a friend, and I got the chance to handle his .380.
That thing felt like a cap gun, and I kept all 7 shots in the X ring. So, now I'm jones-ing for a .380.
Besides, you can always just buy some Buffalo bore +p stuff if you're big on penetration.
I've shot a .380 before. And they are very easy to control. But I'd rather have my G19 than a .380. Of course I'd rather have a .380 than nothing.
