Default Looking for a new knife...

Well Ive been carrying my CRKT M21-14SFG for close to two years now, and Ive been wanting to upgrade.

Firstly, Ive heard that this particular CRKT I have is a copy of a Benchmade knife. But I cant find it. Anyone know of this is the case?

This is the knife I currently have.

Amazon.com: Columbia River Knife and Tool's M21-14SFG Special Forces Big Dog Deep-Bellied Spear Point Knife with Veff Serrated Blade: Home Improvement@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/314LmslAzpL.@@AMEPARAM@@314LmslAzpL

If I could find one that feels the same as that one but has a better blade, then Id get that, since Im already so used to it.

But I was also looking at this one.

Amazon.com: Benchmade 583SBK Knife Barrage Combo Edge Folding Knife Black: Sports & Outdoors@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/3136UFkG9-L.@@AMEPARAM@@3136UFkG9-L

Id prefer to get one thats like my current knife, but with a better blade if its true that its a Benchmade copy, but Id also like opinions on other knifes. I do have one requirement though, it has to have ATLEAST a 3.5 inch blade. I like large knifes. And it has to be all black with a serrated edge. lol

I have two KA-BAR knifes already. Ones the big military knife, the other is a small folder. The big fixed blades are awesome, but all their other knifes dont have much special.

I have a Benchmade Apparition. I've had it for almost 6 years now and never bought another since. Quite unusual because I was normally a new knife every year or so guy.

It does have things I don't like though. One I'm a lefty and carry my knife in my left pocket. The thumb stud is for right hand users. This makes me open it with my fingers instead of thumb. The knife opens better with the thumb. (The assist)

Other than that I love the knife. Nice and heavy. Comes to a point. (A serious like...) No serrations. (I dislike serrations) Dressy, but utilitarian. Doesn't look tactical but is...

Well I went on somewhat of a knife buying spree recently.

I got this one to lace up in my boots.

This one will just be in my Jeep and used when we are out in the woods.

And this will be my new knife for every day carry.

    People still wear watches?

And I found this one in all my searches. Its not out yet. But Ive heard MSRP will probably be around $300, which will probably make it around $150 online. Ill be picking one of these up at that price.

Well I have all my knives now.

I got the Spyderco today, and I cut the shit out of myself like an hour after getting it. It closes differently that my other knives. Once its got just a little left to close, it pulls itself closed. And it did that on the back of the small knuckle of my pointer finger. Bled all over the place. Luckily it was razor sharp so it didnt hurt, and it didnt go too deep.

That one looks cool. I dont really care for the modified tanto point though.

Anyways, Ive had my knife long enough to share how I feel about it.

First off, its SO much lighter than the CRKT M21 I used to carry. Its much slower opening the Spyderco, but with some practice, breaking in, lubing, and adjusting the tension screw, I can get it out plenty fast enough. And I love the Spyderco hole. It is very easy to use, and also reduces weight.

As far as the blade, its amazing. Its still razor sharp, and I use it almost every day at work to cut tape, boxes, and shrink wrap. I hit it on the concrete the other day when cutting some shrink wrap at the bottom of a pallet. It put a small knick in the edge, but I was able to get it out with my sharpener.

Honestly, the main thing I love about it is the blade. I used to have to sharpen my blade every week or two, but with this one, I can go a few weeks, and STILL shave hair off my arm. It keeps an amazing edge. Thats why I went with something with a quality blade.

Definitely a better edge on a quality knife, but the trade off is that when I do sharpen it takes a little longer. I'm horrible at maintenance so I wait a month or so between sharpening.

The trick is to not let it get too dull.

I know. Stropping one after each use makes a big difference too. Try it out on your pants leg or boot and see what I'm talking about.
