    Default 6 Nations Rugby

The annual tournament between Wales, England, Scotland, Ireland, France and Italy is underway.

Wales have put in some strong performances to snatch a win off Ireland and to close the door on Scotland. I'm backing them to win the tournament, although the game against England on Saturday will be a real test. Victory there will put them in mind of the Grand Slam, going into a high-spirited game against France (looking to get back at them for World Cup defeat) and the final game against Italy which surely will result in a Wales win.

Anyone else got an eye on the tournament?

I take it this is not the "Vegas Sevens" that has been on NBC the last few days and seems to be taking place in Las Vegas? I didn't know there was other formats of rugby, but I guess that's typical for British sports (cricket, etc.) is this similar to cricket in that the same players play both formats?

No. There are 2 main formats of Rugby. Union and League. I believe both formats have a Sevens equivalent but its really just like five-a-side soccer. The most popular and biggest format of Rugby is Union, which is the format of the Six Nations tournamet.

I was very surprised when I caught highlights of the England - Italy game. Gave me some hope for the Wales - England game. I still can't see France losing to Wales though. I've seen great defence from Wales but they don't turn over the ball enough and France could just play a ridiculous amount of phases and get tries in.

I fancy Wales today. If they win, they'll have a lot more going into the match against France. That should put them on for a Grand Slam, so todays match is the key.

I fancy England, they've got it all to prove and they've proved it at Twickenham so many times. Maybe I like to go into any Welsh sporting event with a pessimistic angle to avoid disappointment but I have a nasty feeling about this one in particular. It all seems too good to be true.

Don't get me wrong, I expect great things from this current side over the next few years. I expect Wales to smashing England frequently, I just don't know if today is going to be the fairytale beginning to what should be a great era of Welsh rugby.

Wales probably will take England. It is France that I worry about.

Holy shit, that was a tense few minutes. I have picked all of my organs off of the floor now.

If Wales play like that next week, they will only stand a chance if all the French Teams legs fall off. But I think they'll build on their mistakes quickly and will edge France.
