I don't have a problem with Jackson as a fighter, although the first round wasn't much to watch, the rest of the fight was great. I think that Jardine really did lose it with that last knockdown, although other than that I was very impressed with his chin tonight. As a person I think that Rampage is probably one of the biggest pieces of shit in mma, or at least he comes across that way.

Matt Brown was spectacular, and fairly classy in that he didn't beat Sell to death while Yves was doing whatever it was that he was doing. When he first stopped the fight it was more or less over, but it would have been an early stoppage imo. It could have been called at any given time after that though, and should have been.

Carwin has a ton of power, but that's about it. I personally don't like the guy and wish that Gonzaga had finished him when he had him rocked. I can't say that I'm unimpressed by Carwin though.

McCrory looked impressive. He's like a supernerd ninja or something, talking about Metalocalypse in his post fight interview.

I was also kind of hoping that Vera would lose, but I may change my mind about him because he looked like he might actually be serious about fighting now. I know he's pulled the "No, really guys this time I'm actually going to try" card a million times, but he seems like he might be serious for once.

All around it was a good card, there weren't really any disappointing matches.

I can't really stand either of them. I'm looking forward to Machida taking the belt from whoever wins that matchup.

So anyway how about Wandy v. Franklin?
Such an awesome match up, but I hate the timing because I don't want either of them to have a second loss in a row. I see Ace taking this one, especially after coming off that semi-controversial loss to Hendo, you can bet that lit a fire under his ass. If Wanderlei is smart he'll avoid trying to brawl with Franklin, that'll just get him picked apart as Franklin is way to smart to get caught up with that. Honestly I think Silva's best chance is to try and take him down and work to pound him out or submit him(lol hes a black belt remember). Or of course, if he manages to clinch him work that Silva magic just like Anderson did and knee him into the hospital.
I personally believe Franklin will systematically pick him apart like he did to Hendo in the 3rd round, and eventually get a TKO.

Well the thing about Franklin is that he's a bad ass in the clinch, just not against Andy. I'm really looking forward to seeing it. With any luck Ace will rock Wandy's world. (Franklin is probably my favorite fighter as far as his personality is concerned, and one of my favorite to watch fight.)

It's because he's black. That's the same reason I don't like either. Ok fine It's the fact that he's arrogant.

Rashad is overly arrogant and Rampage is overly...well for lack of a better word, I'm going with "niggerish".

Franklin has a great clinch game, but I would definitely give the advantage there to Wandy. Silva v. Rampge I and II anyone?
And I don't mind Rashad being arrogant, I usually like arrogant fighters(i'm one of them lol). I think he's really overrated. I mean he lost that fight against Tito, beat Liddell really isn't impressive any more and Griffin pretty much tooled him for 2 rounds before he landed a punch. The Griffin win is the only impressive one on his resume in my opinion, and everyone is hailing him as the next Liddell. The only problem now is Rampage has such little time to prepare for this fight, he might not come in at 100% and lose.
Also, for the record, I fucking love Rampage.

In all fairness, Rampage's only ability in the clinch is catching knees to the face.

Rampage is going to have to improve some aspects of his game if he wants to stay relevant. First on the list has to be learning to check leg kicks.

and maybe someday even throwing them. maybe. Even though I don't really like Rampage too much I prefer him greatly over Rashad and enjoyed those verbal "quips" they had for each other.

I have a hard time convincing my friends that my dislike for Rampage and Rashad isn't based on the color of their skin.

Rampage needs surgery on his jaw.
Machida v. Evans is official for UFC 98.
As much as I hate to say it, I think Evans has the best chance of anyone to beat Machida. If he could manage to take him down and work some GNP he might just win a decision or even get a stoppage. More than likely though he will try and stand with him and get systematically picked apart until the end. I hope at least. This could either make for an awesome fight, or an extremely boring one.

It'd be funny if Machida steps in and brawls with him and wins via brutal ko.

Never know dude lol, no one has been able to touch Machida's chin, for all we know it's granite.
Also fuck PA laws. Apparently since I'm under 18 I'm not allowed to fight anyone over 18, so I couldn't find a fight for March 21st. I'm still on "stand-by" just in case someone gets injured, but I'm guaranteed a fight 4/25. More time to prepare I guess. Training 4 days a week, 2.5 hours a day is kinda tough though when my fight isn't for a fuckin month and a half.

Oh word. Since the Army thing didn't work out, I'm going to do my best to get back in decent shape and work hard at my jiu jitsu. I've about decided that fighting is something that I seriously want to persue. Right now I've got to worry about getting a job though to pay for training. Hopefully if I take it seriously enough I can get some people to sponsor me and make something of it.

Any of you guys watch Dream 7? I just wanted to mention how amazing Shinya Aoki is. he's amazing. his grappling is so sick i mean he just taps anyone (the cans he's fought) however he wants. just watching him at dream 7 just made me realize how good he actually is, kinda like how i realized how good machida is after watching Machida/Ortiz for the second time and then having it cemented by his KO of Silva in pretty dominating fashion.

Aoki is a wizard on the ground, but I'm pretty sure he would be dominated if he ever tried to compete in the UFC LW division. Japan has an extremely weak LW division. I'm pretty sure any decent wrestler like Guida, Tyson Griffin, or Stevenson would beat Aoki. Sherk would flat out destroy him, and Penn and Florian would probably make pretty quick work of him too.
Point being his BJJ is amazing, but his striking and wrestling aren't nearly up to par with UFC standards.
Anyway, who's psyched for Strikeforce? They got some real quality shows planned, I can't wait.
Diaz v. Shamrock is an amazing match up. Also Lawler v. Shields is going to be coming up which also should be awesome. The promoters definitely seem like they know what they're doing, unlike Affliction.
BTW if you haven't watched the Diaz v. Shamrock press conference yet, find it. It's fucking hilarious. Diaz gets burned everytime he tries to say something lol.

I fucking hate Aoki. I was hoping Eddie Alvarez was going to woop his ass. He needs a real beatdown from someone.
As for the Diaz Shamrock fight, it looks good. What channel is it going to be on though, HD Net?

Bobby Lashley beat Jason Guida. Pro wrestlers make good MMA fighters with a bit of training I guess. Was pretty one-sided, but Guida did get him in a pretty mean looking guillotine choke for a bit.

I'm going to go out on quite a limb here and say that it's the fact that they were steroid users and former collegiate wrestlers and not the fact that they were pro wrestlers that helped them.

I don't agree with you saying that Aoki would get destroyed by any of those guys. I mean it can happen but i think you're just basing it on pure speculation, I mean that's how most ranking in MMA goes but I don't think you can just say that most of the UFC LWs are just so clearly better than the Japanese LWs.

Is that the one where he talks about staph and saying he wouldn't fight Machida (or would prefer to fight Rashad)?

I put all my monies on Shogun over Liddell ($.10) and got a 100% bonus payout for "looking" at an ad. (Adblock ) The Diaz bet is probably a better bet but I just went with Shogun just to have a reason to root for him, yeah for a 32 cent payout.

Fixed the link. Yeah its the interview where he's like "Evans is predictable, he's gonna hit you hard and if that doesn't work he's gonna wrassle you. Machida is gonna ninja you and make you look bad."
Also yeah you don't even have to like look at an add to get that bonus its weird. Anyway Diaz better pull this one out, so far everyone I bet on has lost when they should have won lol.

    Shogun looked pretty sexy tonight.
I couldn't finish the Silva fight, it was so boring. After a while I just turned the sound off and played Sandstorm on repeat one.
Didn't watch the other fights I know raghead did so which ones should i watch?

Kongo fight was alright. Didn't really pay attention to any of the other ones except the Shogun fight. Shogun looked really good. Liddell didn't even look bad, Shogun just completely outclassed him.
The Silva fight was horrible. It was so bad everyone in the bar was fucking booing the TV lol. The worst part was it was blatantly obvious Silva could finish it whenever he wanted, he just... didn't. Fucking Leites was flat out bending over to get away from punches, all it would have taken was one knee. Silva needs someone that can actually threaten him, or I think this is going to keep happening. You could even tell when he walked in, he was just bored. He looked like he just woke up. I hope Wandy comes in and gets a few good punches on his chin, then we'll see the really Anderson come back.
edit: oh yeah and the Cane/Cantwell fight was really good. both of them looked great, give them a couple years and they'll be top 10.

Silva was terrible because he was fighting more to retain the belt than to actually win the match. Cantwell is going to be a beast in a few years when he hits his prime, I hated to see him lose a decision like that. Chuck looked good, he's just done I think. Cheick looked like a black Brock with his Donkey Kong technique at the end. Stann looked off, I'm not sure why he gave that arm back the second time for the kimura. Wiman got robbed, the fight that I saw was an easy 29-28 for him.

    There's my brief rundown.

Stann was always a one dimensional one hit wonder with that win over Cantwell. Cantwell looked real good, but I'm glad that Cane edged it out. I'd like to see him take a crack at a top 10 LHW in his next fight.
Silva wasn't just trying to retain the belt, there were obvious moments when he could have finished the fight and chose not to. The truth came out in the press conference when Ed Soares was defending him. He said the only question people had about Silva was his cardio because he never has been out of the 2nd round. He then went on to say that "He just went 25 minutes without breaking a sweat, and now has nothing left to prove". I believe thats what he was trying to do in the Cote fight as well. God knows why he thinks proving his cardio by fighting a boring fight is more impressive then finishing it. Though if you do look at it from a technical perspective, it was a pretty amazing display of dominance. Then again that would have been a lot more impressive if he wasn't fighting fucking Thales Leites, who is by no means a push over but I mean the guy could use a good 3 or 4 years before he'll be really ready for a title shot.

Remember when Forrest Griffin joked about getting all the 205ers together to pay Anderson Silva to stay at 185?
Joe Silva apparently took that as a hint to match them up. UFC 101 so far is Forrest Griffin v. Anderson Silva and BJ Penn v. Kenny Florian. AND ITS IN FUCKIN PHILLY NIGGAS! i dont give a shit how much these tickets cost i am going to fucking be there

I just read about that on mmafighting.net, it'll be nice to see Forrest come back and be the one to end Andy.

Edit for I didn't notice the BJ/Kenflo matchup though that will be pretty ballin'.

So the topic of the day is "Will Mike Brown ever beat Faber decisively or will he continue to ride the luck train until someone else beats him?".

Also, I feel bad for Jens. That's gotta be devastating for him.

You know you're an awesome guy when they guy fighting you looks like he feels horrible after submitting you in 30 seconds lol. Yeah that fight made me feel like shit, I just hope the guy retires and starts doing seminars or something. You know, like stays active in the sport but doesn't compete and continually get his ass kicked.
Anyway the Faber/Brown fight was absolutely amazing. Faber definitely would have won if he didn't break his hand. He was tooling Brown standing before the injury and he had at least 4 or 5 guillotines that he could have finished if he could have gripped his hands(most of the he let go instantly right when Brown started to push his hand). But still, you can't take anything away from Brown. The dude is a warrior and put up one hell of a fight. Definitely the number 1 featherweight(number 2 once Faber comes back).
Also Jose Aldo is a fucking beast. And only 22 years old jesus christ. If they give him a title shot now though, he will lose. I guarantee it. Combine the pressure of a title fight, his inexperience and the size and wrestling advantage of Mike Brown and you have a terrible match up for Aldo. I think Aldo might have a better chance against Faber. If Faber decided to use his wrestling and ground and pound or go for a submission he'd take it pretty quickly. Chances are though, Faber would try and stand and get knocked out by the one guy in the world that is actually faster than he is. Give Aldo a couple years and he's going to rule the division for a long time, but I don't think it's his time yet.
