Torres caught a beating last night. The thing about WEC events is that every time I watch one I find myself thinking "Wow I'd rather pay to see this than 75% of the events that the UFC puts on. I mean you don't have as many big names in WEC but the fights are always top notch.

Edit for raghead how did you feel about the jiu jitsu that Curran displayed last night? I was pretty impressed by some of his work on the ground. Also, I think that Lesnar destroyed all of Mir's brain cells because he sounded mentally retarded in his commentating.

    Also,
    lol ass beating.

Currans BJJ was excellent. I loved how he worked his guard and personally I felt he won that fight from the bottom.
I really wish he would have switched to the armbar at the end though, I feel he probably could have finished a lot easier that way considering the triangle was way to high up.
Also why the fuck does no one properly finish a mounted triangle? Turn back and grab the leg! I've never seen anyone do it in MMA, its so much more effective than just trying to squeeze with leg power.

Wow, I don't watch WEC because I don't have the network, but judging from that clip it seems bantamweights and even featherweights (Uhumm first Faber Brown fight) has more knockouts than UFC's lightweight division.

Cool Runnings I'd like to suggest that you look up the fights and watch them. A lot of them are on youtube even because zuffa doesn't seem to care about a free show being shared on the internet. Those guys rarely give a weak performance, and always seem to swing for the fences.

Yeah seriously WEC is 99 out of 100 times a lot better than the UFC shows.
Watch Urijah Faber v. Mike Brown II for a truely amazing fight. I don't care how you feel about either of the fighters, you can't not be a fan of them after that fight. Both showed so much heart and skill and barely slowed the pace at all for the full 25 minutes.

I admit that I'm a bit of a Faber nuthugger, but honestly he is a far better fighter than Brown. I mean the guy won two rounds with two broken hands the second time around, the first time he knocked himself out being flashy. Unfortunately I'm still not sure if he's going to be Brown's Franklin or Brown's Rampage if there's a rubber match.

I'll do one better than that, I'll post a link to a place where you can see most any fight video you would like to see, and post the matches from the event for you.

    General fights
    http://www.mmalinker.com/

    Torres/Bowles

    Benevidez/Cruz

    Castillo/Lamas

    Curran/The Miz

    Massouh/Garcia
    http://ikrazy.net/mixedmartialarts/i...ic,1840.0.html

Not all the best quality, but it's the best I could find without doing an extensive search.

For some reason I was IP-Banned from mmalinker. I made an account but never even posted on the site, I emailed about it and they were just like "Idk what happened" and never fixed it lol.
Anyway I agree the Faber is much more talented than Brown. That overhand right in the first round that rocked Brown shattered his hand and then a little later on he broke his thumb on the other hand. He probably would have gotten a 2nd round TKO if that hadn't happened, and even with two busted hands he locked multiple chokes which he couldn't finish(because of his hands). Still you have to give props to Brown. He's a tough motherfucker and I think is going to beat the shit out of Aldo, where I think Faber would have lost to him.
edit: lol oh hey looks like i was unbanned from mmalinker.

Nice djwolford. I'm a bit of a Faber ballsucker too because even though I never saw any of his fights, I just happened to meet him when I came to watch my cousin train. I didn't talk much because I knew his status, but he seemed cool.

He seems like a legitimately cool guy. If you get a chance, check out that site that I posted and watch his fights with Pulver and his second fight with Brown. Those are well worth watching. (His first fight with Pulver is an all out war and pretty fun to watch.)

Sad news guys, the barncat got cut from the UFC roster after his split decision loss the other night. I don't know why, because he seemed to be gaining popularity and despite being 3-3 he was still an above average fighter imo. Also, now they don't have anyone to appeal to the nerd population that keeps up with MMA. (I mean the guy requested a Dethklok song as walkout music it doesn't get any greater than that.)

No Tamdan McCrory, he's the guy who looks like a typical sci-fi nerd, stands about 6'5" or 6'6" and fights at 170 lbs. He just came off of a split decision loss at UFC 101, and I think his contract was up. If I had to guess he wanted some time off since he's about to move to the MW division, or maybe Dana thought it would be best if he took some time off and worked on his game a bit to prepare for fighting at 185. Either way, from what I've heard he left on good terms with the company and is expected to return. The guy is only 22 if I'm not mistaken so he's got plenty of time to sharpen his skills before he comes back.

I don't remember him fighting (except against Hazelett), but I remember him. Dude has a personality at least.
Speaking of Hazelett, can you say future of WW? Unfortunately he's out til early 2010 with his ACL, but man, this kid has got nothing but potential. His fight with Kos everyone though they were throwing him to the wolves, but he rocked Kos early and would have submitted him if he wasn't saved by the bell. Of course Kos ended up getting the win, but it just goes to show the kid has no ceiling. I'm looking forward to him being the one to end GSP's reign by submission.

Yeah, McLovin caught McCrory in a really neat looking armbar of sorts, the setup and execution of that impressed the hell out of me. Hazelett has a ton of potential imo.
(Come to think of it, didn't Gono catch McCrory in a strikingly similar arm bar? Maybe he should work on his arm defense a little bit...)

New topic, so who is going to watch the Carano Santos fight?
I just happen to get free hbo and showtime this month so I'll definitely be watching it.

The fights on the card have been modified so much but I'll do a wiki search for you guys.

    Gina Carano vs Cristiane Santos
    Renato Sobral vs Gegard Mousasi
    Gilbert Melendez vs Mitsuhiro Ushida
    Jay Hieron vs Jesse Taylor

I only care about the first two and a bit of the Hieron fight ( I hope Jesse Taylor gets an ass kicking). I want Gina to win because she is hot and can speak English but I have a feeling Cyborg will own. As for the Babalu fight, I think Babalu will win because I just think Mousasi is overrated and I think Jacare Souza should have won before the bs up kick.

Sorry but I didn't realize not many people have HDNet fights so most probably don't know about these guys.

Babalu/Musasi should be a good fight, but I'm not sure who is going to win. I'm leaning towards Babalu but then he hasn't been that impressive during his last couple of outings so I really don't know.

Carano/Cyborg, I have a feeling that Carano is going to pull it off somehow, but common sense tells me that Cyborg is a man and will win.

To be quite honest, I'm likely going to watch the UFC 100 replay, and just watch those two fights on the internets later on, because almost nothing on this card interest me at all.

I heard about the replay, my tv guide just shows the greatest 100 fights.

Is it just the Lesnar Mir fight or do they also show the ass beating Bisping got?

How did Babalu not impress you against Soko? He weathered the earlier storm against a clearly superior striker/judoku and submitted him in the second round. Babalu v. Mousasi has fight of the night written all over it. It clearly should be the main event, unfortunately most people have never heard of Mousasi. It's really a toss up because Mousasi hasn't been tested against someone with Babalu's experience yet. If Babalu wins, he should return to the LHW top ten and send a clear message that he is still relevant in the division. If Mousasi wins, he will clearly be a top ten LHW and will most likely hold onto that Strikeforce title until the UFC makes him a deal he can't refuse.
As for Hieron v. Taylor, I'm really liking Hieron in this one. If Taylor can't get the takedown expect another brutal knockout from Hieron.
Carano/Cyborg... i really don't give a shit. Womens MMA is as much of a joke as womens basketball.

It's Lesnar/Mir, Hendo/Bisping, and a couple of other main card fights and then a few unaired prelims if I'm not mistaken. There will be a couple in there that we haven't seen before at least.

It's not that he didn't do well, I just didn't feel like he put on a performance that left me thinking wow this guy is great. I agree that it should be the main event though and probably will be fotn, but considering what else is on the card that's not saying much imo. Also, I agree with you 100% on the womens mma part. It ranks up there with womens pro wrestling imo, only with slightly less revealing outfits. So really it doesn't even rank with that.

Good move by dana IMO. Thales is still a tough, top level fighter, he's just going through a rough spot in his career.

Werdum is probably knockin' on 205's door if he's at 228 now. I don't know that he will do that, just saying he probably could.

That's what I'm thinking. 205 doesn't really have any dominant submission fighters right now, he could really mix shit up.

Djwolford I finally got around to watching a WEC fight. I didn't manange to watch to watch the Faber Pulver fight but I got to see the first KO of Faber Brown. And I would like to agree with Bas Rutten, it looked like he was trying to impress the ladies.

Oh by the way, what time is the replay for the UFC 100 because it just shows the ultimate 100 fights and I would like to record it.

And lastly, Gina Carano looked even hotter in the weigh in, please please win.

Cool Runnings you won't understand why he did that if you don't watch any of his other fights. Faber pulls shit like that out of his ass all the time, and it works for him most of the time.
Here's a fun one for you, someone grabbed his leg for a single leg and Faber brought the other leg up, kneed to guy in the face and stayed standing. Sound familiar? That's cause Mir tried it against Lesnar and got fucekd up.

In all fairness Faber is better than Mir at pretty much everything. (BJJ probably being the exception, and Faber's defense is pretty wicked so even that's not as far apart as some people might think.)

Cool Runnings I believe it starts at 9 central, but I could be wrong.

Carano/Cyborg was quite possibly the worst display of mma in a main event that I've ever seen. Other than Babalu/Mousasi the Strikeforce card just wasn't very strong, and even that was a pretty very short fight. Maybe it just looked bad because the last event that I watched was a WEC card, but I just couldn't get interested.

You're right though raghead Mousasi was pretty monsterish in that fight.

    god i hope not
when will fighters stop ruining their legacies by fighting past their prime?

anyway i guess fight predictions for 104:
machida over shogun in a closer fight than expected
velasquez over rothwell in a wrestling match
    neer over tibau via decision
stevenson over fisher in an epic fight
johnson over yoshida in another 'finish him' ko
also okami over sonnen(why the fuck is this on the undercard)

oh yeah and my fight is a week before this i'm gonna say me via sexiness

I didn't know you did MMA, well good luck to you.

As for the upcoming UFC match, I have a gut feeling machida will win in a decision but I'm pulling for a KO by Shogun. As for the Velasquez fight, don't really care.

Also, is it just me or are the UFC fights getting less and less stacked every time? Like cmon, the Belfort vs Franklin fight was good, but that should be a second main card event to something even better.

UFC 103 was pretty loaded dude.
And my fight is going to be muay thai. Because according to PA law, you can fight in muay thai and compete in sub wrestling but you can't put them together until you're 18. stupid shit.

are you kidding? your MUCH more likely to get hurt doing just muay thai then mma... there are like, a disproportionate amount of injuries related to boxing compared to UFC or BJJ competitions...

btw, whats your fighting weight/height? I do muay thai too, actually.

150 myself, but i'm usually up against kids who are about 4-5 inches taller then me, since i'm 150. I'm not exactly stocky. I'm currently 3-0, but thats not because i'm particularly good. they just put me up against kids who have borderline downsyndrome when it comes to defending themselves.
