I "won" my division, kind of I guess. I only had two fights in my division, arm triangle submission in the first minute of the first one and the second one went to decision. Pretty much I'm comfortable on my back, so I was on my back constantly working for submissions. Almost got a couple kimuras, had a triangle locked really tight but fucked it up(more on that later), almost had an armbar too. He literally did not even attempt one submission and ended up winning on points. The guy running the event told me he thought I should have won cause the other guy didn't do shit and I was really only on my back because I wanted to be, and he also thought the judges didn't give me points for taking his back at one point. Looked over the video and low and behold, took the guys back right before he went off the mat and we got reset(with him in my guard for some reason?). Judges didn't give me the two points for taking his back, which would have given me the win. The guy running the place asked for a rematch but my opponent bitched out and didn't agree, so we both ended up with a medal.
Anyway after that I entered the Mens Beginner division. Got matched up with some big ass dude, he had at least 20 pounds(and im guessing 4 or 5 years) on me and was fuckin ripped. We start going at it, he ends up on top, were fighting and he ends up giving himself a bloody nose some how. We stopped and he cleaned up his nose, and apparently after that the judges stopped timing or something, cause the fight went on for over ten minutes when it's suppose to be one five minute round. We end up having a really competitive fight, caught him in a tight, tight triangle but fucked it up(more on that later). At the very end of the fight, after the camera ran out of memory unfortunately(I'll get pics once they put them up on their site), I ended up taking the guys back and getting both hooks in. Started playing with his neck, managed to slip an arm in and ran out of time. He beat me on points, but I'm pretty fuckin impressed with myself that I pretty much would have beaten that guy if he wasn't saved by the bell.
Took another Mens fight, literally about a minute after my 10 minute+ fight so I was gassed as shit already. Again, caught the guy in a really tight triangle, ended up fucking it up. I pretty much gave up after that, he started going for an Americana and I just wanted to rest so I tapped. In all, for what little experience I have, I did really good. I had 4 fights, won the first one, lose to decision at first but it was kind of overturned so I guess I won that too, and lost but almost beat two guys a lot more experienced/stronger than me. And if I was doing my triangles right I literally would have won every fight.
Everytime I caught the triangle, I would sink it in really, really fucking tight. Their head would be red as shit and everything. But instead of crossing their arm across my body and pulling their heads down, I would try and extend their arm and armbar it at the same time I was choking them. The last two guys(both that were in the higher division) that I fought came up to me after and told me they were about to pass out and if I just pulled their heads down they would have tapped.
Pisses me off at myself so much that I could have done so much better if I didn't make a rookie fucking mistake like that.
