www.Snopes.com/food/warnings/coins.asp There is a new warning put out by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency: Sherwood brand Pirates Gold Milk Chocolate Coins are being recalled due to the fact that they contain Melamine- the ingredient in milk that has caused deaths in infants in China. These candies are sold @ Costco, as well as many bulk & dollar stores. Please make sure to check all candy and don't eat the Pirates Coins!!

chocolate is in fact toxic on its own, it'd just require a large dose to be fatal. a regular sized human would have to eat about 22 pounds of it in a go for it to be fatal.

Curses! The canooks found out our plan to destroy them by using tainted chocolate and their own gluttonous appetite.

That qualifies it as a toxin? Wouldn't consuming 22 pounds of almost anything at once kill you?


Or, to paraphrase what some famous toxicologist might well have said once, "The dose determines the poison". Except that he might have been German if he had said that, so there should probably be some umlauts in that already dubious quote.
