Are your parents hippies? I mean, how'd you get into Phish?

HAHA. I laughed out loud at work at this. One does not need to be a hippy to listen to music. It's not like I follow them from city to city and go to their shows tripping on LSD or taking shrooms. I just like music and appreciate how they can make complex music sound simple.

True story - one of my sophomore year psychology lecture halls (~300 people) was taught by a ~30-35 year old guy with a beard that told us on the first day of class that he just finished following Phish around on tour for a couple of years, he was like a roadie or superfan or something and went to all of their shows for a couple of years before getting into the world of academia. He was an interesting fellow.

I like Phish all right, I've got a bunch of their live shows downloaded but if I'm in that funk mood I usually put on some older stuff like George Clinton or Parliament.

THANK YOU! This was the kind of post I was looking for! I will have to check out both of these groups, thanks RS.
