Thread: What actually happened to LWS?

I'm not sure I ever knew the actual sequence of events on that one. I quit message boards entirely starting in, I dunno, 2007, and then when I checked a couple years later it was just...gone. I honestly couldn't tell you if it still existed in 2007. I'm murky on the details.

I do remember certain communities being spun off into their own boards (awful idea even at the time, but that's neither here nor there). But I never quite knew why LWS itself ceased to exist, what caused it, whose decision it was, basically any of that. Somebody here has to know so...tell me.

Whose idea was zoints? (is that even what it's called?) Was that TGO or after he sold it?

Sounds like $50k well spent.

Sucks though, LWS was a good site.

It begs the question: how does one person fail so hard?

yeah he was introduced to us (the staff) as niel initially and i guess at some point TGO or he mentioned his actual name but we only started calling him niheel when the whole community came to realise he was as dumb as a bag of erect dicks, i don't know, to irritate him i guess

or to play up his indian-ness because we're all racist

if you are a basically fluent english speaker and you have engaged in conversation with other english speakers at some point in the past you know that "a bag of ________" generally means "a bag full of ________"

But then Niel went crazy. I tried to stop him. He wanted to off-load Flames and the general discussion forum to another site. I convinced him to give me the Casual Discourse domain. For a brief time there was a link and a banner pointing to this domain until he went full retard and turned the site off.

Solecistic quit, qwahir quit, and I was really the only one remaining. I was feeding solecistic some info and somehow it got back to niel that I did so, so he suddenly locked me out of everything and told me I was fired

I run this place and I still don't get it.

Damn, he sounds like an emotionally unstable douche. I'd say he deserved what happened, but it sucks too much for everybody who actually posted there and liked the place.

i genuinely have no recollection of really anything about that time. i remember bits and pieces, like the language filter, but i'd forgotten that he tried to walk flames off the plank. and i had forgotten that i quit. i guess i assumed i and everyone else was fired, but yeah, it certainly makes more sense that chrissy and the rest of us quit

there's some "lite" versions that I'll probably install first to see how they are. but the mods are around $80-100 each if I don't want to pay for them yearly.

the piggy bank is at about $44 right now, so we're $106 short on vB 4.0.

Just go ahead and install it, we'll pay you back on that amazon thing...
