Having a bad day?

Hey friend, need a hug?

Then head on over to The Nicest Place on the Internet.

It's a fantastic collaborative video experiment where you can get virtual, full-screen squeezes from hundreds of real people who've uploaded video of themselves hugging their webcams or video cameras.

And the name of the site is truth in advertising at its best.

As person after person from around the world gives you a smiling video hug, some gentle, happy music plays in the background. If there was such a thing as the opposite of a typical Internet comments thread, it would be this website.

It's proof that the web doesn't have to just be a place to anonymously post nasty screeds or cynical product reviews. You can also anonymously post a little affection to brighten a stranger's day.

As the site itself puts it, "Having one of those days? Yeah, been there too. And sometimes, a little pick-me-up is hard to come by. So come on by to turn the sad into happy and the happy into a celebration. Cause this is a nice place to visit on days like today."

Bottom line: This is one of the best sites we've seen in a long time -- and whoever made it deserves a hug.

I'm not having a bad day but I found this very amusing and cheery that I'd thought it was share worthy. This is a neat idea using the internet for something to help someone out there instead of trolling people and making weird internet jokes. If you really want to you can upload your own digital hug. I'm not going to because I'd feel a little creepy knowing my avatar is digitally hugging some stranger out there, but for the more charitable and giving here's an opportunity for you.
