I got an idea for helping the economy. Make it so that if someone comes to you wanting a mortgage, loan etc etc, that you have to do checks so that you can be confident in their ability to pay it back. Just a thought.
I voted for Obama, but I really wanted Kuccinich.

Guess what? Businesses are not able to take on additional loans to help them through this tough time due to lack of credit availability. People are losing their homes. The Fed has lowered the rate to 1% and may end up having to go to 0%. The 2nd wave of this (which has already started) is going to be massive layoffs and businesses closing. Then of course this will cause a 3rd wave on a global import/export scale because we will not be able to export American-made goods since unemployment is so high, and we cannot afford as many imported goods except from China.
Even if the Fed pumping all of this money into the economy IS going to work, the effects won't be seen for 12-18 months. Until then, we are fucked and getting fucked worse every day.
Fun fact: Did you know that Toyota (with the support of China of course) is in serious talks to buy General Motors? I'll just let that digest, hopefully it will start to stick. Our economic policies of recent history (which are still continuing and not changing as of this day) have royally fucked us.

I don't think the real economy has been hurt too badly in the UK, yet. The amount of money the UK government is prepared to pump into the banking systems is just mind boggling, £500 billion, which is like $1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 0000000000000. The UK national debt is now going to be insane.
Even still, they are reluctant to start lending to businesses and potential home owners. What is the situation like in the US? Unemployment here has jumped, at its highest rate since Labour came into power. And its estimated that it will double by the end of the decade.
I aint an economist and won't pretend to know much on this subject, but am I right in thinking that the main cause of this is essentially greedy city cunts? I seen some ad's from the US offering credit and to be honest, it shocked me. So fucking irresponsible. I hate how these cunts can take such risks, safe in the knowledge that if it goes wrong, someone else will have to deal with it.
Im of the opinion that since tax payers in many countries will be paying the cost, for years to come, shit needs to happen to stop this, even if that means stronger regulation. That might sound retarded, since I don't really understand economics very well (in which case I accept that my views are retarded), maybe a little too reactionary, but I think we can all agree that there is cause for frustration. I am so ignorant of economics that I don't even know if what I am saying is retarded or not lol. But fuck it, its the internet.
Since what happens in the US almost always effects other countries, I hope the next president puts measures in place to try and stop this kind of thing from happening again, remove the incentives for risk that exist and rocks hard.
Has anyone seen conservapedia's article on Obama? They have an entire section dedicated to how he is a muslim, another to how he is a marxist lol and seem to demand he proves his christianity. Another reason I hope Obama wins, I think it should weaken the hold of the christian right. I think this is a good thing for the US.
As is picking picking a running mate who could cause the voters to make that choice. For the people who dislike Palin, McCain's decision to choose her as a running mate is reason enough to question his judgement. From an outside perspective it's pretty obvious that she's been painfully controversial and has probably pleased as many people as she's pissed off, but for those who find her to be absolutely batshit insane it's hard to place faith in the man who willingly selected her to run alongside him.
I reckon Palin has cost McCain the election. I don't think he will win and I think she will be a large part of that. I think there is a fair number of people who maybe would have voted McCain but are just too scared to see her likes as vice. It is a legitimate concern. She is almost like a female Bush. Granted she doesn't mince her words like he does but her selection of words are still mind boggling at times. Bush oozes stupidity, she oozes ignorance.
For me, she represents much of what is wrong with the USA.
