poi is a porridge made from some sort of starch... i think cassava starch.
koi are gold and silver colored carp you see in chinese and japanese garden ponds. technically they are edible, but i don't think people usually eat them...
EDIT: actually wikipedia tells me that poi is made from taro starch.
