well i mean there is blaming science for doing something stupid and then there is applying common sense based on the proper, objective execution of logic
but i think this all boils down to two very different groups of people - those who live by how they feel, and generally choose faith, or those who live by how they think, who generally choose science

I live by how I feel and generally choose drugs, alcohol and hookers. Then I just use judgment to decide when I should rely on faith and when I should rely on science based on what kind of drug is steering my decision making process at the time.

i'm a bit confused about how science can "do something stupid." there is only good science and bad science (the latter of which isn't really science at all.) technology, perhaps, can be "stupid," but technology is not science. i also don't know what applying common sense to logic means, especially as that sounds like inductive reasoning, whereas science is first and foremost a deductive enterprise above all else.

Science experiments are remarkably similar to math problems, in that when you make a mistake near the beginning of your problem, no matter how small, it distorts the end results. But it's generally relatively easy to spot mistakes in math problems, because we already know all the details we need to about it. The same thing can easily happen in a science experiment, skewing the answer that is then trumpeted around as god-given truth.
And then there are the ways of interpreting results that aren't set in stone, like the stanford prison experiment and, especially, the behavioral experiment milgram performed. The results they reached are questionable, especially when you get into the reasoning behind why the participants acted in the ways they did, which I assumed was the real purpose of the experiments in question.
I've never said they were, and my stance has always been that they are, and that each would support each other making each better than before. But for those who exclusively choose one or the other, I enjoy making broad, sweeping generalizations then provide exceptions later when I, maybe, will rewrite the original statement.
