I noticed this today. I went there and most of their prices are actually higher than Best Buy's across the street. Pretty ridiculous.
the only prices that are reliable are like the software prices since most people will have a feel for what they should be marked at. i could save 10% on a newly released game, but i'm not going to bother for $3 to $5 dollars.
from experience, I can tell you this is pretty much how liquidators always operate.
still, they know people will fall for it, so we'll have to see if any good inventory will remain in march.

Yeah the deals suck ass. I went to my local CC and the dvds were fucking expensive. They mark the prices up then cut them down X%. You end up not saving anything in the grand scheme of things.

i mean i went to a clothing shoppe that was going out of business and got shirts that were normally $20~ for $4~
I went to Circuit City today, everything was like 10-20% off with all sales final.
I only went to make sure my extended warranty was still going to be good once the store was dead and gone. Thank god its all okay!

You serious? I went to Best Buy today and bought an iPod with a warrenty. I woulda gone to CC if I had known the warranty would work.
I am serious. I broke my charger for my laptop and went there to make sure I'd get another one and to make sure that if something went wrong with my laptop that I would be okay. (I bought it last year) The extended warranties were bought by a 3rd company so they aren't affected by the store's closure.

The extended warranties were always technically a 3rd party company, they just called it "Circuit City Advantage" or something similar, and had a huge profit margin on it. The warranties are 3rd party and will be valid until they run out. Installation services and warranties were about all circuit city made money on when it came to computers.
Hmm...I'm returning my ipod cause its a little messed up and exchanging it for another one. Maybe I should swing by Circuit City.

yeah they have that bs plastered all over the outside of their stores here in town.
I was in my local Circuit City and talked to one of the guys working there. Asked for a sweet deal on a display TV and some car audio. He told me display models will be boxed up and sold as normal stock....
On my way to work they had liquidation people on the sides of the highway with those up to 40% off sale signs. So I went in after work and the majority of the shit they had on sale wasn't much different than regular retail price at other stores. So I talked to by buddy and he informed me they upped the price on a lot of stuff so they could have it appear as though it was marked down a lot for a better deal. Classic retail practice really.
Once ink hits 40% off or so I'm stocking up. Other than that I probably wont buy much there.
Looked for deals on a notebook/netbook here and got the same response.
That's like even worse than how stock is normally handled in a store, in which a display model is always eventually sold at some discount.

CompUSA is still around online and theyve pretty much disappeared with their retail stores.
circuitcity.com was completely shut down for business at the time of the last post of this thread and for a long period of time later.
compUSA.com had never shut down.
you seem to be a little too stupid to understand the difference between a company completely going bankrupt and shutting down every retail outlet and a company merely shutting down a large number of its brick-and-mortar locations.
