Actually, I meant it as in the whole marrying her boyfriend thing. I wasn't talking at all about a job interview.

Whenever anyone asks me that - job interview wise, I typically crib a line and say, "Celebrating my 5/10/whatever year anniversary here in whatever position you need me in."

When I was applying for a job at a movie theater in New York, they asked me where I saw myself in 2 years. "Celebrating the 2 year anniversary of you asking me that question with my broom in hand."

Or my current job. "Celebrating the 4 year anniversary of you asking me that question while putting files back on shelves."

Naturally, my current job is eliminating my position in... the next year, so my fourth anniversary will never roll around. But I've been promoted since then and I no longer work on shelves, so I guess we're all liars.

My plans are to loose the house due to lack of funds due to unemployment. I'm taking my apple and peach tree with me, dammit, even if I have to dig them up by hand.

I just dropped out of college to start my own business. I plan to do some graphic design freelancing and photo retouching. Last year my friend Jeff opened a tech consultant and computer repair business. Several of his clients have asked him to create technical manuals and design websites. Since Jeff isn't artistically inclined he has handed me the graphic design portion of the jobs. This means that I already have several potential clients lined up. I want to eventually be making enough money that I'll be able to stop working for a while to attend to a prestigious art school

My ultimate goal, however, is to do photo retouching for a magazine such as Vogue or Seventeen.

I've come to realize IRC turns me into a retard. Also I'm pretty busy with the business stuff and my part-time job.

Within 5 years I am aiming to become a Network Manager (currently an IT Techie with 1 years experience) and be earning 2-3 times my current wage. I'd also like to own my on Computer company somewhere down the line; whether that's in 5 years or 15 years (I'm nearly 20) I don't know, but they are my main aims for the immediate future.

Eh? Not much of future considering the specific field I'm in is highly overmanned and advancement is single digit percentage and that its almost certain that everything in my specific field is supposely going civilian side. Plus, I feel I could make a lot more money in the civilian sector.

    lol

-do a stand-up performance at some point
    -get discovered
    -move to l.a.
    -meet seth rogen
    -bang seth rogen
-live happily ever after in a sea of money and a haze of pot smoke
    -but really
-move out of the parents house and have my own house/apartment without roommates
-get away from news production (as it's easy to get caught in it if it's not what you ultimately wanna do)
-get my production company up and running
-hopefully be married around age 28 but it's okay if it doesn't go down like that

I am terrible for planning, and even my current long-term plan is more of a "Well, I'll fall back on this if my spur-of-the-moment plans fall through." Basically, finish high school, attend my last youth-volunteer program (CWY), finish uni with a (current) major in english and another teachable (likely music (also way to pick coveted, undermanned jobs for teaching, me)), and settle down as a school teacher wherever I choose to, enjoying my summers off to go and do things that pique my interest. If I decide to actually continue my education further, I'd be mostly interested in studying education and trying to change the system from within to something that has some actually credibility instead of a modicum of it.

On the unrealistic side, my inclinations are to follow a career as a marginally successful musician for a few years. In the end, though, I'll likely settle into education.

Not really. The system as it's set up has obvious flaws, mostly stemming from how power is organized and exercised and which positions are accountable to which and why. I am aware of what the core problems are already, actually figuring them out is more of a reorganization of the power structure than anything else, which is more difficult in terms of execution than actual planning.

The question is whether or not I'll actually focus on that.

so you're going to single-handedly fight the system and expect to suceed where others have tried and failed?

don't get me wrong, change has to happen. but i hope you realize that you are not going to be the sole agent of a sudden revolutionary change in education.

it was just the way that cock in wine was expressing his future goals. it almost sounded to me at least as though he were expecting to change everything singlehandedly or at least to completely eliminate the problems in his lifetime.
