I have to say it.
Thank fun Jin is finally speaking fluent English. That was pissing me off.
Good episode though.

hello.
Note the 4 toes and holding of the Ankh
It seems likely to me that Amy's son would have been killed during the Purge in 1992 (at which point he'd have been ~15 years old) along the other Dharma personnel on the island at that time. Of course he might have been off the island at that time. Or he might have been one of the Dharma people who defected to the Others along with Ben prior to the Purge. But in any case, I'd be surprised if an established character turns out to be Amy's son.Originally Posted by mkdisciple
Okay, good point. I guess I wouldn't really be "surprised". What I mean is that I just don't think it will happen, because there's no existing character who really fits the bill.

I have the statue paused on my itunes and it doesnt look exactly like any of the staues posted here but it does have connections. The statue is holding 2 different things in it's hands and it has the same hat as the fertility statue, but the rest of it is different. It definately look egyptian though, and with all the references to the heiroglyphs on the temple of the smoke monster there could very well be an egyptian theme coming into play here
Well the exit is in Tunisia, so maybe it was once also an entrance.
Actually, what I hope is that it's revealed that Amy's son did indeed go with Ben and join the Others at the time of the purge... and it's then revealed that he was one of the random minor Other gunmen who got killed off by various survivors in season 3. Character arc ended.
EDIT: The objects that the statue is holding in it's hands are clearly ankhs (or else some other symbol with a circular loop directly over a crossbar... I think ankhs is a safe bet). And they're being held in a fashion identical to the way in which ankhs were held in some ancient Egyptian statuary depicting gods and pharoahs: Arms straight down at the sides, gripping the ankhs by the loops at the top. This can be seen in the famous statue of Ramesses II, and in a couple of the statue pics that TOGS posted earlier. I'm not sure if there is any significance associated with a statue holding an ankh like this in one hand (like the ones TOGS posted), vs. a statue holding ankhs in both hands (like the statue on the island, and the statue of Ramesses II). Also, based on the limited view we got of it in LaFleur, the statue seems to have one leg forward and one leg back, rather than both legs together (again, a commonality with the statue of Ramesses II and many other Egyptian sculptures of standing rulers/gods). Not sure about the significance of this pose either, unfortunately

Is there no episode this week?
That might explain there not being an episode this week.
Hah correct.
Gahhhh Amy's baby WAS an established character!! And was killed by Charlie!
But I liked that it wasn't like an major character. It was just a fun nod to a previous character.

With no established centric this episode though it made the time jumps rather confusing. But I am glad we finally saw what happened to 316.

We now know basically what happened to every important passenger of 316 after the crash.
Okay, good. Moving on.
No train. I just mean that we know about the events immediately following the crash for all the important passengers:
Jack
Kate
Hurley
Sayid
Sun
Ben
Locke
Lapidus
Until this episode, we didn't know about Lapidus, Ben, Sun and Sayid. Now that we know, we don't need any more episodes specifically covering the crash.
oh oh oh oh oh
okay
I got my flight numbers confused, I'm sorry.
Quite right.
Also, I got a bit of a chill seeing Jacob wonder out of the derelict Dharma building.
I knew it would be him, but I still got a bit of an "oooOOOOOooohh" when he walked into the light.
That makes me wonder what time we're in. Like everything is torn to shit.

I figured that was from when the mercs tore the place up and smokey came and laid some smackdown. I think they're in the present.
EDIT: Er, or what passes for the "present".
2007.
Thirty Years Ago subtitle would put the people in the past at 1977, and this has been confirmed by Sawyer and co.
I believe that passes for 'present'.
Unless you were being metaphysical, Togs, in which case, time doesn't exist. Dur.
EDIT: Also, where did Farrady run off to? Sawyer says he wasn't with them anymore.
Well, my guess is that he went to work at the development of the Orchid station.
i'm utterly confused.
jack, kate, hurley and sayid wound up in 1977... but sun, ben, locke and other 316 passengers ended up in 2007?
is that right
Yes. Perhaps because that's always the way it has been that's the way it needed to be. Whatever happened, happened.
Locke doesn't need to be in 1977 he needs to lead the others from here on out in 2007.
I just found out what the title of the Season 5 Finale is:
whoa no way

Or this is simply the result of the "unknown side-effects" of not completely replicating the Oceanic 815 flight with Ajira 316.

What I mean to say that Jack Kate etc went back in time because they always went back in time. History needs them to be there to accomplish some sort of task. Lapidus and crew need not be there because they have work to do otherwise.
So you got that theory
OR
Because Oceanic flight 815 was not completely replicated the unpredictable results is that not everyone went back in time.

It was also great to see young Ben.

Sorry, I meant to say Christian but wrote Jacob.
I'm sure it's Jacob, but it's not something we know for sure. All we know is that Locke said that Jacob told him to move the Island, and then we saw Christian saying that he told Locke to move the Island -- it could be that Locke merely thinks Christian is Jacob, but that seems like an unlikely twist.
Christian Shepard did say in Cabin Fever that he "speaks on [Jacob's] behalf".
