Well, I think what you did now made this a pretty good thread so I rated it 5 stars.

The game looks interesting, and I've seen other variants. I think played one or two of them for a few games and I had a lot of fun. I almost purchased Demigod because I'm a fan of Stardock, but opted out because I heard it inferior to this game.

Common argument is that they aren't the same game, but I'll try to do what I can.
I normally think of LoL as a mega casual style/noob as hell Action RTS/MOBA (multiplayer online battle arena?)
I've only played LoL for a month, and that was like 2 years ago, so I can't remember that much, but some features that DotA has are:

Denying - attacking your own creeps and killing them when they are low to prevent the other team from gaining SOME exp and gold. You can also deny your teammates if they are under DoT damage like poison or some other spells.

Activate-able items - All items are unique, some give stats, some build up with recipes to create bigger items, etc, it'll be hard to learn at first but, you can click on a majority of items, which have special statuses

There are no runes/summoners, you won't be able to pick up runes that temporarily boost you up, and there is currently a level system that hasn't been implemented yet, but I don't think this will give you summoner boosts like LoL does. (well there are runes that spawn every 2 minutes on the map [unless there already is a rune] that temporarily boosts you, like Haste, Double Damage, Illusions, Invisibility, or Regeneration)

This is all a guess from what I've read so far, I may be wrong, so just try to take this part lightly. Dota2 is looking to be a free-to-play game, not what I was hoping for but it will probably be similar to team fortress 2, paying is for cosmetics only, you won't be limited to 5 or so "champions" per week if you didn't pay for the full game.

That's just a few, it's probably easier if you watch videos. I just know for sure that LoL is way casual, and basically anyone can pick it up, my exes and a lot of girls play, so that's gotta say something about being casual. The community on Dota is probably a lot more serious though, and will probably rage at you for sucking.

I'll never switch back to LoL, never ever, I've been playing DotA for about 6 or 7 years now, and I just love it. I've had the beta since November (best birthday gift from valve ever) and I've ONLY clocked in 484 hours. It's obviously more fun when you have more friends to play with, with everyone getting beta keys, about 20 people on my steam friends own the game now, but I already have a solid team of 5, so maybe I'll just in-house with my other friends one day. I'll also add that my friends that have been playing LoL for a while, have now gotten bored of it and are dying for Dota2 beta keys. I think if you're coming over, you'll be fine. You already understand map awareness and last hitting, you just need to spend a long time learning all the heroes/items. The advanced mechanics can be huge, and even after 6 years I'm still learning things on a regular basis.

Demigod is a "mega casual style/noob as hell Action RTS/MOBA."

LoL is a more casual style action RTS/MOBS or whatever.

Trust me, LoL's learning curve is still pretty steep for those of us who aren't familiar with DotA. It might feel like a "noob as hell" version of DotA for someone that's played the latter for 6 or 7 years, but it doesn't feel that way to green players. But you're right that in many ways it is simpler than DotA due to its omission of some mechanics.

On the other hand, Demigod has NO cover, no forest mobs/bosses, no last hitting, relatively sloooow combat, no recipes, no runes... THAT game is super, super mega noob.

    Are you serious?

For people like you who spend most of your free time away from a computer and eat healthy food, steam is the gaseous phase of water which can be used as a method of transferring heat to cook chiefly vegetables, but also fish, eggs, and other foods. At 1 atmosphere, the transition temperature from liquid water to steam is 100 degrees Celsius (212 degrees Fahrenheit). It is often preferred to cook vegetables with steam rather than boiling them in water since vegetable nutrients can dissolve in the cooking water, and boiled vegetables often have a mushy consistency compared to steamed vegetables, which can more easily be made to retain their crispness.

Steam has historically many other uses as well. Heating water to steam and using steam to spin turbines is still the most common way to convert extracted heat energy to electricity. In addition, steam was historically the most common manner of converting solid fuel such as wood or coal into mechanical energy that powered locomotive devices such as boats and trains. In this last application, it has been superseded by internal combustion engines which use aerosols of light molecular weight extracts from crude oil in air to generate combustion reactions that directly drive pistons.

For those of us who live grossly unhealthy and disordered lifestyles in which we spend much of our recreational time vegetating in front of our computers, allowing our bodies to whither and decay and setting ourselves up for health problems in our middle and old age, Steam is an online service and vendor that allows players to directly purchase and download games from the Steam service. There is no physical media needed to install the purchased software. Even many games purchased in the form of traditional physical media require the game to be associated with a Steam account. The advantage for users is that purchasing of games is instantaneous with neither having to wait for a mail order to arrive or to subject themselves to the horrors of daylight or the outside world if they were to buy the game at a brick-and-mortar store. However, it does require that the player sign into the online Steam service (and hence have an active Internet connection), though there is a limited offline mode that allows players to use their account in case of that only intermittent internet access is available.
