The way some of them are complaining makes it sounds like an insurmountable problem.

If it makes you feel better you're not actually mistiming. Check your ping sometime, the average is about 300ms, and often it'll be 500+. I mean I guess it's better than the servers not being up at all, but I feel bad for people who are pathologically compelled to make a hardcore character because sometimes life saving skills just refuse to trigger.
