Thread: Fallout: New Vegas

I agree with Atmoscheer. Lots of easy ways to get through this game.

Had a little fun the other day on a melee build.

I was tooling around Matthew's Animal Husbandry Farm by Camp Searchlight, and I was exploring east towards the Old Nuclear Site and found a horde of Ghoul, Roamers, Glowing Ones, and Reavers. I'm going for the 10K melee damage trophy, so I'm using Chopper to break limbs and put down ghouls. ED-E kept dying, or I kept dying at the hands of Reavers. Chems, adding Boone or Veronica, changing it up to guns or energy weapons didn't work because not all of us would survive to the ends. Needless to say, I was getting frustrated.

Serendipity.

I go back to Novac, load up on frag mines, powder charges, and C4. I travel back to the farm and plant C4 and lay mines down in the path between the two barns. I have ED-E and Boone wait at the end. I lay down mines and powder charges on a winding trail around this huge rock, pull out my detonator, and run screaming mad like a banshee through ghoul territory. They chased after me. I had to stop a few times so they could properly pathfind me or whatever. That seemed a little absurd and I hope the mega patch fixes all this soon. But anyways, I ran down that path and ghouls just blew to pieces all the way through the barn. Went into 3rd person perspective and watching the action behind me unfold was really exciting. I didn't think they would follow me that far or that I had enough explosives, but I decimated the ghoul horde and felt like I deserved a beer for that.

well i downloaded it for free and after i left the tutorial town at level 3 i got killed by a giant radscorpion and then i got killed by a deathclaw (thank god i saved early and saved often)

well to be fair i still managed to kill one of the giant radscorpions also in fallout 3 giant radscorpions didn't show up until like level 16

also the enemies scaled down to my level again after those two incidents

you guys are still playing this game?

it was so damn easy i got bored of it maybe 1/4 of the way through my second, "hardcore" playthrough.

yeah, i keep going to options to turn up the difficulty but i forget it's already set to the highest. plus i'm using my weakest character archetype from fallout 3 so i don't even want to see how easy it is if i use my other ones.

i've yet to complete it once.

Bots are significantly more sophisticated now than they were back in the good old days. It is kind of neat in an annoying sort of way.

I haven't played New Vegas yet, I'm hoping to get it next week though. I have been playing fallout 3 a lot lately (now that I have a ps3) and it's starting to get old.. I don't feel the need to do a whole lot more. Mind you that won't stop me.

Pumped for this game.

I loved Fallout 3, but for some reason I could only play through it twice without getting bored of it. This is opposed to New Vegas, which I played through four times. The world was less barren than Fallout 3's (for good reason) so I liked it more.

I liked fallout 3 but I had a little bit of trouble getting into it, but this was not the case with new vegas, I loved it straight away
