Haven't read much about L.A. Noire but I played Portal 2 and it is a great game, much longer/more story than the first.
So your options as I see them are take a risk on L.A. Noire possibly sucking, maybe but probably not being awesome, or have a Rick Scarf Guarantee* that Portal 2 will be tits up awesome.

I will probably end up getting Portal 2 and just picking up LA Noire later.
L.A. Noire. I had the past 2 days off and I did nothing but play it.
Portal 2 is fun, though, but get L.A Noire. It comes on 3 discs for Xbox.
I may run out and get L.A. Noire today just because everyone won't shut up about it.

I bought rdr in january and it was my first gta-like game ever and it pretty much ruined everything else in my life for like 72 hours straight (minus minimal sleep) but it was amazing

i heard la noire is overheating ps3 and xboxes with more frequency than other games
so just fyi, don't leave cheeseburger wrappers over the cooling fan ports
well if they had it on PC I would get it for that.
I'm still debating if I'm going to get it.

I enjoyed Portal 2, but I think L.A. would definitely be more worth the money, and you'll spend countless hours on it. I only spent about 13 hours on Portal 2, I'm not complaining, but now I have nothing else to do with it really. Was great for $35 though. Games have been dropping a lot lately, I'd just wait for the next price drop to pick up either.
I broke down and got LA Noire. ordered it online from Best Buy as they'll mail me a $20 gift card too.
not to mention I only live 1/2 mile from the store.
It's not bad so far, but I've got most of these beginning cases solved way before I've gone through all the evidence

Portal 2 was really awesome at first, but it got kind of old for me after an hour or two of jumping through hole after hole after hole. Plus it keeps fucking crashing god dammit.

There's a Best Buy near my house.
I went to their website (bestbuy.com) and found the game online.
It said "You get a $20 gift card when you purchase this game online!"
I purchased the game online, and selected "in-store pickup"
I went to my local Best Buy and picked up the game.
My gift card will arrive in the mail next week. It is worth TWENTY US DOLLARS
I will then take the gift card into Best Buy and spend it on something worth TWENTY US DOLLARS
