While the Thompson is a sweet firearm, they sell in the 13-16k range for a West Hurley model, the Colts and WWII contract guns start at about 30K. Then a 100 round drum sells for 5-600 bones. Not a cheap date. Though you can get the stick magazines cheap.
Have you considered just getting a drop in auto sear they are a lot cheaper than buying the whole gun and transferable to any AR based rifle you own.
