I found a Sabre Defense bbl. Hopefully I can get it.
Daaammniiiitttttt
I made the mistake of going down to the fun store to poke around today. I'm back in the mood for building. Probably going to order a POF Billet lower tonight. Fuck me. I feel like I should anyways, I've had this RRA LPK sitting around for like 2 or 3 months now collecting dust, plus the Youngs NM BCG I ordered last month-ish.
Although I was VERY tempted by the S&W MOE carbine they had down there. Gotta say though, not impressed with the MOE handguards. EXTREMELY wobbly, even under almost no force.
Hows it coming along, Anony?

Barrel should be here early next week. After that I'm done. But I'll still need to get my NFA stamp so I can put a stock on it. So it will be a pistol for a while. I ended up getting the Sabre barrel. Paid about 100 more for it. But it's a better quality bbl, it comes with the flash hider and delta ring, and most importantly, it was in stock.
!!
Spikes lowers are on sale for $90! Forget the POF billet, looks like I'm going with a Spikes.
EDIT: What the FUCK. Spikes closes at 12EST on Fridays?! Fuck that. Oh well. The order is place, I just have to fax them a copy of the FFL on Monday (hopefully... I hope SOMEONE is there on a holiday) and my SBR build is back in action.

I found the light im putting on it.

I do want to get a FDE UBR for my other AR. Im turning that one into a 16 in SPR.
This scope: http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/Mille...0dms%201-4.htm
And this mount: http://www.americandefensemanufactur...&product_id=47
Then I plan on getting the whole thing painted FDE.
Just ordered a B.A.D. and ASAP. I got the B.A.D. because I plan on putting a redi-mod on it. My build is going to be a duty rifle, and I highly doubt I'll have an extra mag on me when the time comes that I may have to use it, thus my reasoning for the redi-mod.
I am so fucking excited to build this rifle. I can't wait to see yours when its done either, Anony. It looks very nice so far.
EDIT: If you're interested, they're in stock here: http://westernsportonline.com/index....products_id=61 theres 19 left.
For $34, I figure they're worth a try. I mean, I know its going to help in my situation at least, but if you try it and don't like it, its not exactly breaking the bank plus I'm sure you could find someone that would buy it.
Also, those guys at Western Sports Online are good guys. That was my first time ordering from them and I'm definitely impressed. Their website had a glitch that made me think I was getting free shipping, so I checked out and placed my order and about half an hour later the owner of the store e-mailed me and told me about it. He still honored the free shipping anyways, but warned me just in case I notice it in future purchases. Good customer service over there. I mean, I was just impressed with the fact that he even took the time out of his Sunday to e-mail me.
I'm not so sure what I want to do about optics. I've tossed around the idea of a Micro, but I'd really like to try one out. I got to mess with my first real Eotech teh other day and I gotta say I'm not too impressed. The reticle was very fuzzy and hard to focus on, and I have 20/15 eyesight. I'll see if anyone else has any others I can test out, maybe his was just poorly set up?
I have TERRIBLE eyesight. EOTechs are blurry if you dont know how to look through them.
Both eyes open, and dont focus on the reticule. Look through it and focus on the target. When I first got mine it took me a little while to get used to it, but now I love it. The reason it was hard for you to focus on is because you arent supposed to focus on it.
I had a little problem last night. I was cycling the bolt to get it good and worn in for when I got the bbl, and the charging handle started getting harder and harder to pull back. Then it started sticking towards the back. I figured it out though. The part on the charging handle where it contacts the bolt carrier was getting worn down, and making metal shavings. I looked at the CH on my other AR with about 2500 rounds through it, and it shows no wear except for a little on the finish. E-mailed Bravo Co. about it, and they have me a new one on the way.
Do you just have a regular ol' forged CH from them? I really like their new Gunfighter CH's, and I'm thinking next time they're in stock I might have to grab one.
My Spikes lower shipped today . I'm so excited, this is going to be a fun week. I've got a lower, MOE stock, ASAP, BAD, and MIAD all coming in the mail within the next week. I was hoping to scrape up enough cash to place an order on a Redi-Mod too just so I could have my entire lower done all at the same time, but that doesn't look like it'll happen this week.
I should probably find out if someone locally can engrave this for me before I put it all together, because I'd rather only have to ship out the lower if I have to, and don't want to be bothered with disassembling the whole thing if I do.
PICS PICS PICS!
I just ordered a Redi-Mod and some Magpul anti-tilt followers and Ranger Plates for all my USGI mags. All I really needed was a firing pin retaining pin (I bent the shit out of mine while reassembling my bolt the other day), so I used it as an excuse to binge some more, because I'm sure as hell not paying $8 in shipping for a $1 part.
Heres a crappy iPhone pic. Still isnt operational though. Having a hard time backing the barrel nut some to get the gas tube through. Im going to my grandfathers tomorrow, and we will get it done then. I might have to cut the delta ring off and take a pipe wrench to the barrel nut. Good thing I have an extra set.
WHERE?!
You tease.
I really need to slow down. I'm spending too much too fast lol. Just ordered a Gear Sector ASP and claw hook adapter... and I don't even have my lower yet, let alone a whole rifle. In other news I did get my MOE stock and MIAD in today. Lower is coming Tuesday. ASAP and BAD at an undisclosed date next week. Redi-Mod is who-knows-how-far out. BFG's wesbite says 4-6 week ship time.
Still pretty undecided on what I want for an upper/barrel. I'm stuck between 12.5 (which is hard as FUCK to find) 11.5 or 10.5. If I go with 11.5 or 10.5 it will be either a complete BCM or complete Spikes. But at that point, I'm not sure if I want an FSB or not. I'm kiiiiinda leaning towards an FSB for the sole fact that I know its going to work when I need it to, since this is going to be my go-to rifle and I can't afford the chance of something failing. Throwing an extra mechanical part in the mix when I could have something fixed just kinda adds to that slim chance.

Go with the FSB for a duty rifle. They are pinned in the barrel, which makes them the most sturdy gas blocks available. Period. You can beat the shit out of it and it wont turn like a clamp mounted GB will.
And I must have forgotten to post the pic. lol
Ok, the barrel length thing could be its own thread in itself, but Ill try and break it down. For every inch, you will gain velocity and with velocity comes a higher maximum effective range. My 10.5 in will be effective out to about 100 yards with some 75 gr 5.56.
Now when I saw effective I mean the bullet will still have enough velocity to fragment in the target. You will still be able to hit targets out to as far as you want. Its just that they will just have a .22 caliber hole punched in them. Ive seen the Diablo PWS 7 in barrel upper hit a man sized target at 300 yards.
Ill see if I can find the chart with all the muzzle velocities and 100 yard velocities for different bbl lengths.
Awesome. Have you started your SBR paperwork yet?
EDIT: Got my BAD and ASAP in today. So much Magpul goodness on my desk right now. Lower comes in tomorrow!

Mmmm, got my lower in today and all assembled. This thing sure is sexy.
EDIT: Man, this RRA LPK is ridiculous. I used one on my other build too, but its nowhere near as nice as this. There is almost absolutely no creep, and the break is nice and sharp. It's definitely a pretty heavy pull, but the fact that I barely have to squeeze it makes up for it.

My lower looks so lonely.
It looks so nice with everything on it, drenched in Magpul goodness. So much so that I think I'm too impatient for the SBR paperwork right now. I might buy a 14.5" and have it pinned and welded, then sometime down the road finally get on the paperwork and have the barrel cut and threaded.
EDIT: In other news I got my BCM Gunfighter CH in the mail, and a shitload of Magpul followers and ranger plates. That was a fun little project. Now all my USGI mags are up to par.

I ordered a new light for the pistol. So Ill be putting the Insight M3 back on my XD45. This is the light I ordered. For the price, it seems great. Ill make sure to do a review for it when I get it in.

You can find them for as low as $85 and for that price, its hard to beat with all the features it has.
