I met one of the main people from Procul Harum when I was too young to give a shit who they were.
Oh you mean Aria?
Oh, alright then. I didn't know Bach had two Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D Major's.
Bach titled the movement as an "Air," not an "Aria." They mean the same fucking thing anyway except that the suite was a French musical form, so all the movements in Bach's Orchestral Suites have French names.
I think you overestimate the maturity levels of the remnant that's still here.
It wasn't an Aria (obviously) but it is indeed titled Aria, which is Italian for Air, not French, though it was indeed written in a French style.
Air in French is "Air".
Music history and French pwned.
Also, I only did this because of your snarky comment, otherwise I probably wouldn't have posted in this thread.
I meant it is an "Aria" in the sense of the Italian word for "Air" in French not an "Aria" in the sense of a vocal solo.
Where and by whom? There is no autograph of this piece which survives. I have seen scores that title this movement as "Aria." Other places call it "Air." But "Air" is the proper name for a movement like this.but it is indeed titled Aria, which is Italian for Air, not French, though it was indeed written in a French style.
o hokay. Also, I only did this because of your snarky comment, otherwise I probably wouldn't have posted in this thread.
Edit: I wasn't even being snarky; Air on the G String is really, really well known, and I would expect almost everyone here to know it even if they might have forgotten what it's called...
Where? I dunno
By whom? Someone who my music history teacher was aware of
I distinctly remember my professor saying of Bach's Orchestral Suites that they were written by a German composer in a french style using italian names.

This isn't an AI discussion, as the debate is of fact and has little substance.
Also, the debate ended before davidisdavid posted that.
