here's the new trailer!
I'm planning to see this shit in imax 3d. I'm so excited.
I think this looks a lot better than the Sam Raimi interpretation. If they do this as right as it looks like they are going to, I think we could be in for a real treat. Especially if they kill Gwen Stacy at the end of the sequel.
And people need to stop bitching about the Lizard. I can't believe how many people are whining about how he doesn't have a lab coat. For one, there is no way there isn't going to be at least one scene in the movie where he's wearing a lab coat, and for two the lab coat doesn't really make much sense anyway. The crocodile complaints I can kind of get behind though.
I really, REALLY REALLY wanted to hate this movie. I ignored it, even bashed it at times because doing a Spider-Man reboot just seemed dumb and picking Andrew Garfield just seemed even dumber.
Then I saw this trailer.
It's like they took everything wrong with the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man films, did them right, and then put them in this trailer.
I'm still not getting my hopes up, but Sally Field, Martin Sheen, Denis Leary and Emma Stone? Sign me the fuck up.
I hated the Spiderman series. Not sure about this one either.
quotes from the internet
i have a crush on emma stone
but does he use a device to shoot web? is that how it is in the comics?
I thought the first trailer was shitty and half of it just looked like a video game. The second trailer is a huge improvement, although it looks as though they've made Peter Parker a bit emo to appeal to the brooding post-twilight crowd.
If I can find a showing in 2D I'll probably go see it.
Peter Parker has occasionally gotten a bit emo in the comics. There was nothing in that trailer that really threw me off and I'm a big Spider-Man fan.
so wait is denis leary supposed to be gwen satcy's father
wasn't gwen stacy's father basically mr. lodge from archie?

No, the first movies were huge deviations from the comics

Yeah, the Tobey Maguire films were pretty much based in the "Ultimate" universe where Peter Parker is now dead. He was still super-smart there, but that's where he was the teenager with the photo gig etc. etc. etc. IIRC
werent the 90s cartoons the same as the first films
There weren't enough quips in those films. I judge a Spider-Man story by how many quips he makes while fighting.
(Seriously though, Spider-Man's constant prattling is a major character trait)
Pumped, I disliked the Rami movies. Much more in line with the 616 comics, with a hint of Ultimate line thrown in with his dad being a scientist and not a spy.
I liked the Spiderman trilogy, but I don't know too much about the character outside of saturday morning cartoons from the 90s and a few comics read here and there. I wasn't too excited about this reboot. I'm not familiar with Gwen Stacey or much of what this is interpeted from. However, after reading this thread my interested has been piqued. I am kind of looking forward to learning more and watching this film.
