I know a few people who've had similar upbringings and maintain similar relationships with their parents, although generally to less of an extent than the girl in the article
some are actually amongst the most incredible people I know and are far better for it
some are the lowest, most unpleasant people I've ever had the missfortune of being physically threatened by
