Thread: Black girl goes missing, Nation doesn't care

The search continued today for Phylicia Simone Barnes, a star high school student from North Carolina who went missing in Baltimore last week. The 16-year-old honor student from Monroe, N.C., was visiting her half-sister when she disappeared three days after Christmas.

Phylicia was last heard from Dec.28 via Facebook when she posted a note saying she was at her sister's apartment with her sister's boyfriend. The 5 foot 8 inch straight-A, African-American student has been missing ever since.

Well it's not like it's not getting news (ABC News) and it's not like no one is looking (FBI is involved).
They spend over half the article talking about the complaints of a double-standard, when if that was me in that case and my daughter/sister was missing I would rather let the police do their job and would prefer to keep it a more private matter rather than wanting Nancy Grace to give her opinion and theories.
Sure there is a double-standard, no doubt, but is this the kind of case where you really want to point that out? The odds of someone watching it on the news and going "oh yeah, I have information on that" is far outweighed by the insuation, true or not, that the victims families just want 15 minutes of fame and a monetary award from a civil suit.

How many of the people in that group do you think actually actively pray for a particular "prayer" cause anyway? Do you think maybe 1% or is that too generous? Or do you think they just joined the group because their farmville friend did and they are going to need to ask for eggs next week so they had better not refuse any invitations.

Kids go missing all the time and the national media doesn't cover every single case. That's what those bulletin boards at Walmart are for.
