Mafia Reboot: Fight the Power! [Night 1]
Flavour!
The smell of unwashed armpits and the hoarse shouts of protestors fill the air on Wall Street. Some are shambling around in face paint, devouring counterfeit currency while others wave banners and scream epithets at anyone willing to listen (probably not atmosfear). But at the end of each long day of marching together in solidarity against systemic exploitation and iniquity, all is not as happy as it seems. As everyone on the streets filters back to homes, tempoarary or otherwise, a lone figure slips out the back of a paddywagon as it drives away. It disappears into an alleyway, but not before being followed closely by several much more institutional figures, each equipped with batons and flashlights.
The figure, hands still cuffed behind his back, keeps running full speed to the people he knows, his friends, his casual acquaintences. He bursts into their group, falling hard on the ground before rolling on his back.
"You're all in shit!" he screams, "There's fuckin cops here! Two of" the rest is indistinguishable. Tasers seem to have that effect on people. The 9 people remaining watch in stunned silence as Infernus, babbling, is dragged away from their campsite.
Infernus, the Protestor has been arrested by the cops!
Protestors! It's clear that you have spies among you! People who wish to stop you, lawfully or otherwise, from sharing your opinions on economics and social justice, lawfully or otherwise! There is only one clear path that everyone can agree on, here in this protestor camp, and that is one person must be hanged each night until the daily arrests stop!
Rules!
General rules apply, this is a 7/2 setup with a doc/cop as power roles.
Day and Night phases have been switched for flavour. There is no game impact aside from names being swapped.
During the Night phase, a majority vote causes a lynch which reveals a role and ends the Night phase. There is a time limit on how long the Night phase may last, decided by me arbitrarily. Basically, as long as there is discussion and activity, the Night will go on until a lynch. If the game loses activity, I will set a deadline to restimulate the playing. If a Night is just taking too long because you're all wishy-washy pansies, I'll just set a deadline.
Day actions are submitted and resolved by the GM (coqauvin) with the results posted when everyone has acted, which restars the Night phase. The hard time limit for Day actions will be 24 hours. Since you are required to make one post per day, you can send in a Day action when you check the thread. I don't want this game just sputtering out.
The winner of the game will be sent a recorded message from me extolling their virtues.
There are a couple of special rules:
1) No Private Messaging.

There is to be no communication about gameplay in this game outside of this thread, aside from the Quicktopic I've assigned to certain players in their role PM. As soon as I find out a message has been sent, I will modkill the sender. You are, of course, free to PM me at any time you'd like.
2) You must post at least once each day.

Not once each game day. Once every real, 24-hour period day. If you don't, I'll send you a PM warning you. If you have enough warnings, I'll just modkill you. If you have only limited access to the internet, let me know somehow. I'm pretty understanding about this stuff.
For the record, breaking rules will mostly be me correcting you. If it becomes a serious problem (guys, I don't expect this at all, but you never know), I will just kill you off and replace you with someone on the replacement list.
3)Majority votes are required.

If a day drags out with little to no involvement, I will set a deadline. If there is still no majority before the deadline, there will be no kill, unless the vote is 1 short of a kill. If 1 person does not vote due to inactivity, I will consider the remaining votes a majority for the purposes of the deadline.
4) Thou Shalt Not Quote the GM
aka don't ctrl+c ctrl+v your role PM.
Do not copy your role PM to confirm your role or whatever. They're all carbon copies anyways, because I am both busy and lazy, but there should be no influence of game setup on your arguing your alignment. If you copy/paste even a small portion of your role PM or any communication between the GM and yourself into the thread, you will be removed from the game. Paraphrasing is perfectly fine.
I noticed this is the first zombie game I ran. It gives the wrong kind of credence and support for an argument to copy/paste your Role PM. Think about it this way: when you're arguing with someone that you are or aren't something, you don't use "God made me this way, and here's the receipt to prove it" as an argument.

Roles
You will all receive a role PM with me once you've confirmed with me that you want to play. We're using Standard Roles with flavoured names.
Townie -> Protestor
Votes during the night phase for a lynch. Can communicate via PM with other players during the Night phase, but not the Day phase. Consitutes the majority and wins when both cops have been eliminated.Doctor -> Lawyer
Can save any player from being arrested during the Day phase. Cannot save themselves. Wins when the protestors win.Cop -> Journalist
Can learn the official role of one other player once per day phase.
