I bred these dogs for a purpose. I wanted my own puppies, bred from my own dog. Raised from birth by my side. I don't raise these dogs to "compensate" for anything. I raise these dogs because I enjoy it. It makes me happy, and I am proud of them.
If my dogs are the worst thing that happen in your world this week/month/year, consider yourself lucky.

I've been tired, sick, stressed, and in a foul mood recently, so yeah, I'm probably self-righteous. I also happen to be right. Nothing you have said has contradicted the facts I posted - there are thousands of unwanted pit bulls (including puppies) and other dogs available all over the US, and most of them will die for want of a home. Rather than give homes to some of them, you created more. I realize that what's done is done - all you can do now is provide them with the best care you can, until they die (hopefully of old age). That doesn't mean I have to like it, or that I can't call you on it on an internet forum.

Exactly how many abandoned animals do you own sasquash?
My girlfriend runs a small animal rescue and sanctuary, so we have about 20 animals in the house. Some might be adopted out, but most have special needs or are very old, and will be with us until the die. Officially, I've adopted two of them myself, but there's not much practical difference between the cage that has my animals in it, and the cages that have the sanctuary animals in them.
Edit: They're all animals who were dumped by their previous owners for various dubious reasons.

For the record, I didn't honestly mean that shelters are full of half bred retarded mutts. As a matter of fact, and I've mentioned her in other threads, the dog I had before I got Julie was a German Shepherd I adopted from a shelter when I was in middle school, and I had her up until I went to college. She was hit by a truck, and basically died in my arms.

As for the whole long debate on dogs in shelters vs breeding, I think its a person's own business. Unless a pet owner is actually harming/neglecting a dog, it is no one's business but the owner. If you're big into saving animals from shelters, then do it. Save all the dang dogs/cats/whatever else you want, but back off of people that don't want to.
Well, if you think of pets as nothing more than property, like furniture, then your reasoning makes sense. I'd even agree with it, to a point. But I don't think that pets are just more stuff, and I think their welfare is more important than the eventual disposition of a couch - especially when the rationales for breeding are so weak.
I have a Betta fish sitting on my desk and he is better than all of the pets yet mentioned in this thread
