How do you feel about the world right now? Do you think it could get any worse?
How do you feel about the world right now? Do you think it could get any worse?
It could be square, that would be lame.
we could all be muslim
that would suck a mean dick
the world is getting into better and better shape
sion you are an idiot
To paraphrase Charles Gunn: "Don't even say there is nowhere to go but up. There is always more down."
Sure it could be worse. I mean, I could be dead, then where would we all be? I think it is pretty safe to say that until nuclear holocaust there is always more down.
Seriously guys I don't think the world, or humanity, has ever been in such good shape
those who think otherwise are myopic and naive
I don't really think the world is doing any better or worse than it ever was, it's just changing. I don't see why that's so scary either. It's important that the world change and we change with it, it isn't good or bad, it just is.
Are you fucking kidding me. We in a somewhat peaceful time. There's no world war. There's no deadly virus' killing the majority population. There's no catastrophic events about to take place. I would say we're doing pretty damn well in comparison to the rest of history.
To be quite honest, I have no idea how people were in ages past, and the fact of the matter is that it is often difficult even for those that study history and her sister studies to determine this too, as the historical and archealogical record usually has more detailed information about the rich and powerful than it does about the common man.
Also, I often try hard to imagine what life is like for the "average person" on the Earth, and I really have no idea.
So I will say that I have no real idea if life is "better" or "worse" for the average person, but I will also say that things could be far, far worse, and have been worse, certainly in the West. For example, the first half of the 20th century had TWO world wars which ravaged Europe and resulted in the deaths of millions upon millions of people. These two world wars sandwiched by the Great Depression in the US, which also gravely harmed many other economies in the world.
So in conclusion: SUN is an idiot.
I wasn't implying I thought we were bad off (though I can see how that could be inferred), I was just saying that we hella sure could be in worse shape.
It could be worse.
We could have a black man as president.
oh
who the fuck cares
Of course it could get worse. Doesn't mean it's bad now.
NOTlava!
Is this a serious question?
After hearing about these radical shootings in the states and the conflict overseas for many years, I just fear for things!
lol, there will always be shootings and conflicts. Things are only bad now if you are comparing now to some ideal. When would you rather live than now, if now is so bad?
I thought the world was ok, then you started crap threads
YO HO YO HO
ceci n'est pas une signature
Take heart, for when I die, the world and everything and everyone one in it will cease to exist.
So it'll never get THAT bad.
The apocalypse is nigh. Jesus will be coming back soon to judge us. Where will you lot hide? Gwahir? Do you think he will have forgotten what you did to him?
it could be shaped like a middle finger.would be interesting though.
Well, of course, it could be worse. We could be facing over-population with unsustainable technologies while diverting food production for fuel synthesis.
Oh.

The issue is that over-population isn't really an ideal. It's occurring and it's destroying one habitat in place for another (note Amazonian deforestation), drying food supplies and causing aggressive demand over fuel.
Things certainly aren't horrible. If we take a step back and try to take in the big picture and weigh-out the benefits and detriments humanity has right now, on which side would the balance fall?
I don't think it's ever really been a debate. The world--in a more strict sense, "humanity"--has never really been in good shape. Because there has always been conflict.
Things are only bad now if you are comparing them to historical precedent. Worse implies a devolution, a degradation of state.
But look at the medical and technological advances we've made, how progressive we've become in terms of social thought. That certainly counts for something.
Could the world be in worse shape? The question is too broad. In respect to me, I'll probably consider the world in a better place more than, say, a family in Tehran or Pakistani widow as a result of pesticide testing.

TOGS, the United States is, although probably not intentionally, already doing pretty much everything it can about overpopulation.
That is to say, it's own population growth rate are at an all-time low and, it has, probably not to anyone's satisfaction, taken significant steps to address the growth rate in area of the world with the highest rate (the middle east) in the only way really available to an external agency (i.e raising the death rate)
i still dont care, however just stepping back in to confirm that the original post is retarded
