St. Paul, Minnesota (CNN) -- When you're on a college campus and you ask someone what they're studying, one answer you don't typically hear is "hip hop."
But McNally Smith College of Music in St. Paul, Minnsota, is the first school in the nation to offer an accredited diploma program on the study and performance of hip hop music.
Well, I mean...
People can major in classical or jazz performance... I mean of course they'd have to major in a particular instrument in these cases, or conducting... or theory... but still...

Really though, even I have to admit that I would look down on such a degree whereas I would respect one of the more traditional degrees in music. I can't help it, even with my liberal weenie 'tude.
