The Blair Witch Project was made on like a $60,000 budget and raked in $140,000,000. That's amazing.
Especially for such a shitty film.

a mockumentary is a fictional comedy movie done in documentary style, meaning with interviews of the fictional characters, live footage, etc. but the focus is always on the subjects being documented, just like a real documentary.
in the blair witch project, the documentary style breaks down when the documentarians become characters themselves.
this is spinal tap is the archetype of the mockumentary.

After reading the Wikipedia article on the plot of the movie, I understand your point, and admit to my misconceptions.
I would also like to apologize if I in any way made it seem like I actually gave a shit. That is not the kind of thing I seriously concern myself with, and I would be embarrassed if people thought it was.
