    What kind of characters did you guys build?

    Mine is basically a genius who talks his way through things and I main weapon choice was explosives.

    I don't understand the VACS system, can you just spam it or is there a time limit on it?

    No you can't spam. There is a time limit for your action points (number of attacks you can make) to recharge.
