Fucking Lucy West thing took me 3 goddamned hours. Bugh. Now, off to the minefield.

Just like above with the sledgehammer, using VATS with the Shishkabob is very satisfying. On another note, Sneak attacking a raider who just put a cig to his mouth is just as satisfying.
Also, get the Rock-It Launcher ASAP. It's so very fun using tin cans to decapitate.
Anyone set the nuke off in megaton yet?
Yep. Probably should have done all the quests and shit in Megaton first.
If you do decide to blow it up though, the person writing the survival guide survives, so you could still do that quest. You have to go back to the remains of Megaton and shes standing there.
Also Charon is a fucking beast. He's like a ghoul slave you can get and he just runs around with a combat shotgun and fucking destroys everything in your path. also you could put power armor on him and he becomes even stronger
It's kind of sad if you don't set off the nuke. I'm doing a good/neutral run at the moment, so I have mass amounts of good karma stockpiled.
Just started on an xbox I stole from a pledge
This should be a productive day
The game itself is ok, but as someone who loved the first two, it doesn't really capture that "Fallout feel" for me. The game feels WAAAY too much like Oblivion, which I wasn't too crazy about. I think some small touches could have been added. For example, when you do fast travel, it would be cool if the classic travel map came out and you saw yourself move across the wasteland, and you would stop if interrupted by raiders or whatever.
I made Anton Chigurh. I did all of the Craterside Supply quests, blew up Megaton, and I now plan to murder everybody in Tenpenny tower. Oh yeah, he's badass with the Combat Shotgun.
I'm installing it as we speak.
Any tips for character creation?
It doesn't really matter, to be honest.
Yeah, I read about intelligence giving you more points so I did put a little more points on that than the others.
In what way doesn't it really matter though?
I haven't really played much of the game yet, been a busy day. I've just got out of the vault.
I'm a bit disappointed with how the melee fighting looks to be honest, especially in the vat targeting. But I've only used a baseball bat so far. Maybe it gets better with other weapons?
Using guns looks nice though.
Also, does anyone else find that moving is kinda slidy? Like when you stop you carry on going for a little bit while slowing down, kinda like..well sliding lol.
My friend told me you could place a live grenade on someone while pickpocketing them.
Can someone with a high enough sneak skill test this out?
How is everyone getting on in the game?
I'll see if I can try it. My guy is a rogue/thief/lone ranger kinda dude. High sneak and small weapons.
I just got it last night, and played the shit out of it. Although I can say that I'm VERY pissed theres no quicksave or frequent autosave (not that I was expecting one) because, yes, I had one of those situations. I played for hours and hours, and got so into it that I, of course, forgot to save. What the fuck happens? I fall off a fucking bridge.
Yes you can put a grenade or a mine in someones pocket.
I have been wandering around the wasteland just to see what I can find and just now got back to the main quest, hello rivet city.
Anyone find the alien blaster yet? One shot kills are sweet.
Mind you, you can only place a live grenade on them if you have a high enough sneak skill. If the victim is higher than you in that particular skill, they will notice and stop you before you place it on them. Same thing happens if you try and pickpocket from them. Nonetheless very amusing.
If anybody wants to get a shitload of good karma (enough to bring me back from "Very Evil" to "Neutral"), activate the Failsafe terminal in "Tranquility Lane" instead of following Betty's orders, and negotiate with The Family in the "Blood Ties" quest to protect Arefu in exchange for blood packs.
You know how when you get good karma, you get a little notice that says "You've gained karma!" with a picture of the Vault-Tec kid smiling with a halo over his head? If you do those two quests as I've said, you instead get a picture of Jesus. So yeah apparently that's a fuckton of good.
If you ever need good karma just go to the beggar asking for purified water outside of Rivet City. You can give him as much Purified water as you want for infinite good karma. It's especially easy once you have an apartment with a robot that gives you free Purified water.
Depends how much money you have, I'm poor as fuck =/
Harsh.
Can you not pause it with the menu button and save from there?
edit: Btw i just nuked megaton
I love how the game makes you feel like a badass when you can kill Super Mutants without too much trouble, then kicks the shit out of you when you wander too far out and end up running into Deathclaws and what not.
With a sniper rifle / magnum I can one-shot most enemies on Very Hard difficulty lol. Anything I can't I put bombs in its pants. If I can't do either I actually have to fight things, but this only comes up with deathclaws.
I've been playing this game since the 14th of October and I still ain't done.
By the way nermy and I have decided the proper term for sneaking up on someone and planting a bomb on them with pickpocketing is "pants"
As in, "I pantsed that LARPing emofag vamp and then killed his whole entourage"
You can pants people with grenades at 60 sneak (may be earlier, that's the first time I tried it), but cannot use mines. If it's tiered the way most skills have been, then you can pants with grenades at 50 and mines at 75.
You should be able to put a mini nuke in someones pants. That would be fun.
Also it's pretty gay that their legs don't blow off or anything when you pants them.
Also it's pretty gay that if you pants someone everyone else knows it was you and starts shooting.
Raghead it depends on whether or not you are detected if the crowd knows you pants someone. Nermy can probably elaborate more about how to best avoid detection, but pantsing isn't automatic.
Also you can kill NPCs without losing karma by pushing them off high ledges.
Deathclaws suck, I put 4 blasts from the alien blaster into one and it still didnt finish the job.
i'm considering getting this game, but i figure i'll ask it first.
Would you recomend this game to a casual gamer?
plasma mines are the best
they turn people into green goo
Watched a friend play it on a 360 and it looked pretty cool. I can't see myself buying it though because I was never a big fan of RPGs. Not to mention it took so long for the game to actually start. I was bored long before the tutorial was over.
The end of the game
I thought it was a bit of a dissapointment. Wasteland was kinda boring and I hate it when all the animals attack you like in Oblivion if you don't have the animal friend perk. I still play it for a few minutes every now and then.
Even after the kinda weak ending, I loved this game. I have been hooked on the fallout world since fallout 1. Being the complete loser I am, I am going to play it through once with neutral karma, bad, and then good. My biggest gripe about the game was the voice acting...I was having constant Oblivion flash backs.
Theres not that many animals around, just the occasional one. Still, just use a melee weapon, its not a hassle or anything.
I thought the voice acting was pretty good to be honest.
