Are you kidding me? The cast is horrible aside from Ben Parker and Norman Osborn.
Mary Jane is supposed to be hot, like incredibly sexy, and Pete is supposed to be lanky, good looking and not not sarcastic (nothing to do with Toby, but he's too much of a pussy to be anything but).
Again kt, you prove to be a fucking moron.
I thought J Jonah and Aunt May were cast pretty perfectly. MJ was fine -- Kirsten Dunst is pretty hot and you buy that she's a friendly hot person -- and Tobey Maguire was a sympathetic dork and a believable wiseass in the first movie.
The casting was pretty good the whole way through. The writing is where the second two movies failed and the first movie wasn't all that impressive.
Agreed with Jonah and Aunt May, but no MJ needs to be model hot (she's a model in the comics) and Kirsten Dunst doesn't have an upper lip and isn't even a natural redhead; that was the whole deal with Peter and MJ, she's just wayyyy out of his league.
Doc Oc was great, Venom and Sandman sucked horribly, as did the new Green Goblin (everyone can agree that S3 sucked); and the wisecracking jokes were never there.
Seeing those billboard posters of MJ/Dunst all done up like a model is perfectly convincing "model hot".
And yes, pretty much everything about number 3 sucked. I'm going to ignore it entirely. And yes, the wisecracking jokes weren't really there, but that's a writing quibble, not a casting one. In any case you should probably retract your brash comment that the casting was "horrible" and that bit where you call someone a "fucking moron" for thinking that the casting was good.
The Dark Knight. I believe it is hands down the best superhero film ever made and it is also my favourite. However I want to give a nod to others which I really like. I loved X-Men 2, as did I love Superman 2. The Spiderman movies were a dissapointment. For me the third didn't get good till the last half hour or so and by then I was almost asleep. They hyped Spiderman 2 I remember as being the greateat superhero flick ever. Bullshit. For me the 1989 Batman film was the best (at that point) and X-Men 2 was a close second.
I loved Blade too, I remember the first time I saw it. I was in awe of it.
Willow
may not be super, but he's a hero in my eyes and in my heart
I guess Ironman. I loved the cast, paced well, and enjoyed every part. The Dark Knight comes second because I felt it was a little long and there is so much to be missed you have to keep watching it over and over to get everything. Would rather do that reading a book. Constantine and Hellboy are also favorites of mine.
Comedy Option: The Toxic Avenger
@Absolution: Kirsten Dunst was a model as a child before she pursued acting.
Unthinking respect for authority is the greatest enemy of truth.
Albert Einstein
Kristen Dunst WAS attractive enough to play MJ back in the day. Not so much anymore.
the phantom
gotta love billy zane's ass in them tight tights.. mmmm sexy.
The Dark Knight. I'm not a big fan of superhero movies and I don't think I have ever read a comic book in my life so this was one of the only ones I could even think of. Excellent movie though.
GI Joe: The Movie
the 1986 version not this bullshit they are making today.
300 wasn't faithful, and in all fairness, the 300 comic is only about as long as ONE of the Sin City ministories.
Also, the 300 comic wasn't that fantastic. I mean, you immaculately render a shitty comic to a movie, it's gonna be shitty. You do the same with an amazing comic (Sin City, Ideally Watchmen) and I jerk off
No no, i agree, I just prefer the comics tone to the comedic tone of the movies.
Batman begins and Spiderman were good. I watched fantastic four last night and found it amusing, if a little weak.
Also i think The Incredibles deserves a mention. I usually hate that incessant stream of feel good pixar animations that we are subjected to every year, but this one did make me laugh.
I think I might have wet myself today http://movies.yahoo.com/movie/1808665084/video/11128168
I am pretty excited about Xmen Origins as well. Gambit looks spot on, as does pretty much everyone else, but especially Gambit and Deadpool (I reckon this is when he first enters the weapon X program which is why he isn't all scarred and disfigured yet).
since it seems that combic movies = superhero movies (judging from the way this thread has turned), I thought 300 was brilliant.
