Anyone else interested in the new Marvel event coming this April?
I'm just fucking glad it's not going to be called "Fear Without Man" as hinted on the timeline in Avengers #5.

Well the main company crossovers in recent years have been pretty bad, but most of them have been written by Bendis so you know.
This one's headed up by Fraction who's actually a good writer, so while it will likely be good, I doubt this'll get very much promotion and it'll be destined to end up in the same discount bin as recent issues of Chaos War will be in a few weeks.

It's been promoted in practically every Marvel comic throughout December and the event doesn't even start until April. If this crossover fails in any sense, I don't think it'll be from a lack of promotion. This isn't just some mini-event.
Oh I guess that's what happens when I just download noads copies of comics instead of buying them.
I'm not at all surprised that they're still lacking on Spider-Man. I stopped reading Amazing a couple years ago during the One Last Day arc. Which still just makes me nauseous to think about. the Hulk looks to be pretty great. Planet Hulk and WWH were both amazing.
If you like Spider-Man you should read Spider-Man Marvel Adventures. It's awesome.

Well, issue #1 of Fear Itself did not disappoint at all.

I wondered why they gave him his own company-wide event (since they generally don't give one to good writers), but on further research, it apparently evolved from a Captain America / Thor mini-series that grew too big for its britches.
Spiderman's biggest fear is someone casting a Res on Uncle Ben so some hooligan can gun him down in the street again.
Also, the Spiderman art is awful in those teasers.

I need to scale back on my comic book expenditures. I'm hitting the $150 a month mark and it's getting a bit out of hand.
I did pick up Fear Itself #1, and it was pretty good, however I doubt I'm going to grab all the separate spinoffs. I'll probably just stick with the main "Fear Itself" line and go from there.
That is a lot of money spent on comic books monthly.
I spend less on groceries.

I don't think $150 a month on comics is that bad. That's about how much I spend.

Oh yeah I just finished reading Fear Itself: The Home Front. I liked the Speedball story (I'm a fan of Rain Beredo's art) and "There's No Place Like Homeless" was sort of interesting. The Agents of Atlas story was pretty "eh". Some of the characters seemed off. It would have been a lot better if Jeff Parker had written it. (Also, I thought 3D Man joined the Agents of Atlas). Oh and the JJ Jameson bit was lol. So yeah I thought the issue overall was somewhat mediocre. I'll get #2 but it won't be a comic I'll read on Wednesday. It's more of a Monday comic if ya know what I mean.

Also this is the first cross-over event since I started reading comics again (2004) that I've actually been looking forward to the next issue instead of just being like so whatever (feat avril lavigne)
I am kind of excited for the Deadpool Fear Itself series, I guess.

So yeah just finished Fear Itself #6. Best thing about Fear Itself #6: only one more month of this fucking bullshit story.
This issue could also double as a "What if Captain America had a nervous break down? Featuring the Avengers". Seriously, the last page of this comic was fucking ridiculously stupid.
