Thread: Whelp, looks like we're going to war with Iran now

Like anyone is really shocked...

At talks scheduled for Thursday in Geneva with Iran, the United States and five other major powers will demand immediate and unfettered access to the newly exposed nuclear facility in Iran, including access to people and documents involved in its construction, and they will insist that Tehran abide by international rules to reveal such projects before construction begins, Obama administration officials said Saturday.

Why do I say war? Because our government obviously has known about this for years but hasn't acted on it for whatever reason. Anyone with a subscription to Wired magazine knows that it is pretty damn hard for a country to hide a nuclear enrichment operation.

So how's it going to play out? Now that we've "just discovered this" we're going to demand to have inspectors go to it, which of course will be refused, and then we'll have "no choice" but to "strategically neutralize the sites with precision weapons" which will of course escalate into another middle-eastern shitstorm.

You heard it here first, folks.

So when is the United States going to declare war on itself for having an active nuclear weapons program?

It's more about how people function together, carried onto the nations being entities of sorts. If you bully kids, eventually one or a few of them are going to get you back for being an asshole, with the degree of revenge being based on how the initial victim feels about the abuse in question. It's better for long term sustainability to work with other people to ensure long-term relationships that operate well. Being a dick simply because you can for the time being will get you the short term gains, scads of them, but at what cost?

It is pretty clear these are nations that are not going to work with us. It's a prisoner's dilemma, except the first one to shoot wins.

save the world from germany is a checkered history - the americans came in fresh after both sides had been pounding on each other for a while, while their business execs profited from sales to both sides in the war. this is strategically sound, but doesn't endear you to either side and claiming credit for it as a saviour loses it's power because you waited until the last second to come in.

hahahahaha ok, both of these countries were communists, so once they realized that being communist isn't as profitable as being capitalistic (maximizing short term profits for as long as possible before jumping ship with the earnings), they were bound to turn towards it anyways.
