SUCH a good movie
Now my favourite X-Men movie. Mind you Origins was my favourite movie before this one so...
seriously? I've heard nothing but bad things about this flick. You're the first person I've know that has given it something above a "meh" rating.
I liked it. I thought it was decent. I'm not really a big X-Men fan though so I'm not sure how accurate the character portrayals were.
yeah, X3 made no sense. you can't kill Xavier AND cyclops.
It was horrible, not even from a fan standpoint but from a movie standpoint itself. There are plot holes (how did Raven know what Shaw looked during their fight, especially the helmet?). There was a line like, "This is what we trained all week for!" and they had the whole, "Join the dark side!" Speech three minutes after everyone introduces themselves.
Two redeeming things about the movie was the Wolverine bit and Kevin Bacon's German accent.
Movies that will be better than this that come out this summer:
- Green Lantern (Ryan Reynolds is awesome)
- Mr. Popper's Penguins
- Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II
- Winnie The Pooh
- The Smurfs
- Cowboys and Aliens (This is going to be Snakes on a Plane levels of awesome)
- Rise of the Planet of the Apes (John Lithgow is in it, how bad can it be?)
- Red State
- Captain America: The First Avenger
Since you have challenged my superior opinions I will separate your challengers into three categories:
I have not heard of these movies and therefore they are irrelevant:
Also regardless of how good children's movies are (this includes Winnie the Pooh and The Smurfs) I refuse to go to them after having a terrible experience with Kung-Fu Panda a few summers ago due to little shits being little shits (hint: this is actually all children).
Movies you are wrong about:
Ryan Reynolds is sex but this does not imply the movie won't suck (it will). I loved the book Mr. Popper's Penguins as an elementary-schooler but Jim Carrey ruins everything. Planet of the Apes, just no.
Movies you are right about and because of their presence I modify my assertion to "x-men is the best movie to come out so far this summer":
Also note that I only grant this because I am currently into Harry Potter on account of recently being prescribed Adderall (I have no explanation for this).
If you have not heard of Captain America or Cowboys and Aliens you aren't qualified to criticize movies. at. all.
the praise that first class is getting is because of the characterisations, but in reality the characterisations are all perfunctory and simplistic
maybe with the exception of fassbender's magneto, but even that was only because fassbender has enough gravitas to sell average dialogue.
I can accept your list. It is possible I have some recency bias towards first class, but it is obviously better than x3 and origins. And you're right that, from a film perspective, X3 is better than origins, but x3 just pissed me off so much. They took my most beloved xmen story (not favorite, but most beloved due to xmen: tas nostalgia) and shit all over it.
I thought the movie was cool, but not the OMFG THIS MOVIE IS FUCKING AMAZING that I see on everyone's facebook. Honestly, I swear, nobody on facebook speaks their opinion anymore, they see one person say it's FUCKIN AMAZING and nobody else dares to say it wasn't FUCKIN AMAZING. God damn people
nermy back me up Ryan Reynolds' best movie is Definitely Maybe.
Also X-men was the best of them because for about an hour and 45 minutes it made me care about comic book characters.
Then the credits started rolling and I was like "Let's go back to playing Mario Golf"
I just hated them all. Too wolverine oriented, and I fucking love Wolverine.
Multiple Man was probably the only redeeming part of X3
I actually really liked Cyclops in X3 lol
Chaos Theory was better.
Also, some made for TV movie where he was a teacher with cancer was better than I'll admit in public
X3 and Origins are awful. I'll just wait two years until they redo the entire saga with a whole new cast and not feature them in an Avengers/X-men crossover epic battling the Skrull empire. Also, I have yet to see First Class, but I've anticipated that it will be better than the last two.

I like all the Xmen movies but I think First Class is my favorite. Most of these comic book movies bore me in the beginning while they set up the characters but FC made it interesting. Also Magneto is my favorite villain. And in the what superpower do you want, it's his. I'd only use it for good though. Good at making me rich.
Will be seeing Cowboys vs Aliens and Capt America.
